{Kid Stuff} Christmas and Hanukkah Crafts

My son's class had their holiday party yesterday and I volunteered to run the craft centre. Even if I hadn't volunteered, his teacher would've volunteered me for it since he's always making cards at home and gifting them to her. ;)

I was asked to come up with both a Christmas and Hanukkah craft so I put my Cameo to use. With 20 students in the class, I had to make 40 projects. Oh my poor Cameo and my poor hand from punching out all those magnets. LOL

My first project was a tree-shaped Santa magnet. If you click on the link, you'll see that I removed the trim detail at the bottom to make the cutting faster. The kids found the shape amusing and some even suggested that it looked more like an elf than Santa. They were corrected by others who said that elves don't have beards. Haha.

My second project was a dreidel magnet. If you look at the cut file, the symbol is its own cut out and not embedded in the dreidel itself. To make it easier for the kids, I cut the symbol out of the two blue parts so that they could line up the two pieces.

The other parents ran a story centre reading Where's My Dreidel? and (singing) A Porcupine in a Pine Tree and also served delicious Christmas and Hanukkah snacks. Yum!

So here's what the piles looked like when they were assorted and ready to bag.

Each bag contained both the Santa craft and the Hanukkah craft for each student.

It was so satisfying to carry that pile to school! :) My son was super excited that I was running the craft centre and he made his super fast and quite perfectly. I'm so proud of him. His classmates thought these were really cool, too, especially his friends who'd been over for play dates and crafted with us before. There were a few who designed their own Santas, using the magnets as eyes. Some even glued the dreidel to the back of the Santa but that is okay. They all had a lot of fun!

I hope you enjoyed this non-stamping post! My Cameo has been used almost daily since I bought it and I could not love it more. I hope to share more of these projects with you when I have time. Thanks for stopping by!

You're the funnest mom ever, Emily :) Kids are hilarious to work with in a big craft group - I find it so hard not to stop them from doing the crazy stuff (No! Wait! oh, ok, well, at least you're not eating it.)
I especially love that you did both Christmas & Hanukkah magnets :)

Super cute project! I bet the kids just loved them! I am still giggling at the 'magnets for eyeballs' comment :) Kids are so funny! Glad to hear you are enjoying your Cameo. I just got mine so I will be stalking your blog for project ideas ;)

you are definitely the funnest mum! being involved with your son's classes as he makes his way through school is such a blessing. you get to meet his friends, see him interact, be "in the know" as they get older... being the fly on the wall/in the driver seat was one of the best things about car-pooling when mine were in high-school. they totally forget you're there, and you learn all kinds of stuff!
fantastic holiday crafts, btw!

These are just awesome! I love seeing how the magnets turned out. The dreidel is so cool! That's a ton of die cutting, but it was worth it!!
