{Paper Smooches} Hello + Enjoy This Day

Kim is sharing these two cards on the Paper Smooches Blog today. They both feature butterflies and  sentiments from Flap Happy. I was really struggling with mojo when I made this but it happened to be one of those ideas that came to me in a flash while I was washing dishes or doing another monotonous chore that caused my mind to drift. ;)

At first, I stamped the row of butterflies on acetate using Staz-On but the smell nearly made me pass out. Haha. I changed my mind and went with white cardstock so I could mist on it. As you can tell, I had good control of the yellow mist, moderate control of the blue and completely lost control when it came to the green. LOL After allowing it to dry, I fussy cut the panel and adhered it to the kraft base with foam tape and trimmed off the ends. Then I stamped the little solid butterfly in coordinating inks and fussy cut those. I arranged them around the sentiment to highlight it and added rhinestones to finish.

For my second card, I used the butterfly antennae to stamp the grass and the backside of the stamps to 'colour' in the butterflies. It's a technique that I've seen many talented stampers use but this is the first time I've tried it. I sponged around the edges of the card to create an aura and embellished the butterflies with sequins and pearls.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you are having a great week so far. :)

They turned out awesome, Emily! The first one with the misting is wicked cool--very clever with the fussy cutting. I like the stamping the back in the second card. The shading is beautiful!

Now that is a fabulous idea - using the antennae for grass?? Misting is definitely a skilled art - maybe it's trying to tell us to let go? I don't know ;) The other day one of my bottles sprayed sideways & misted a big chunk of carpet!
