{Studio Calico + Mama Elephant} Blue Note Card Kit + Cole Add-On

Studio Calico's December Card Kits are now available! This month, Mama Elephant designed not just one but two exclusive stamp sets for the December Card Kits! This first card uses the stamp set included in the Blue Note Main Card Kit.

My tip for this card involves using washi tape or masking tape to stamp this subway art style sentiment with three different inks, three different times. You can watch a video tutorial of my technique HERE.

I stamped LOVE with a glue pad and applied obsidian glitter. I stamped this line first but if I were to remake the card, I would stamp it last since covering it and pressing the stamp on the glitter two times to stamp the other lines loosened some of the glitter.

I covered the glittered LOVE with a strip of scrap paper. Then I applied washi tape to all lines, except PEACE and JOY JOY JOY which were stamped with Nautical Blue pigment ink.

The remaining two lines were stamped with Versafine Onyx Black pigment ink. All of the papers and embellishments are included in the main card kit. The tag was die cut using Embellished Tag Creative Cuts.

This second card uses the stamp set and three of the patterned papers included in the Cole Card Add-On.

My first tip for this card is to adhere the patterned paper to a piece of cardstock for added stiffness, especially if it's going to be popped on foam tape. That way it doesn't warp or get crushed when it goes through the mail.

I used the white vinyl stars from the kit to accent the stars on the patterned paper.

My second tip for this card is to use a grid mat and acrylic block when stamping on angled panels. This ensures that stamped images and sentiments line up with the vertical and horizontal edges of the card base.

The trees were stamped in Starlite Silver and the sentiment in Versafine Onyx Black pigment inks.

Mama Elephant will be giving away the Blue Note December Card Kit to one lucky winner and the Cole Card Kit Add-On to another lucky winner.  Please be sure to comment at the Mama Elephant Blog and all of the design team blogs to increase your chances of winning!

I love your designs Emily. They are really classy - I especially love that the colours aren't the real traditional "christmassy" colours you normally see on cards. Lovely. I am so thankful that I can create cards and give them to everyone :)

Both of your cards are so pretty. Thanks for the "stamp before the glitter" tip. I do crazy stuff out of order all of the time with more disastrous results. You do beautiful work.
