{Paper Smooches} Die Versatility Series: Combining Dies + Video!

Ever since I made the Wicked Nauticool card shown at left (click on the image to go to the original post) by combining the sailboat die with the Borders 1 water/snow/mud/grass die, I've had many requests for a video showing how I did it. It's taken me a while but I hadn't forgotten. :) While I was dreaming up ideas for this video, it made me realize how many ideas I have for using Paper Smooches dies so I thought this would be a great opportunity to start a video series on die versatility.

Since the holidays are coming up and I need a few more Christmas cards, I thought I'd whip up this one using the boy elf from Enchanted Elves. Whereas in the original version, I left the bottom of the panel white - which actually makes it more apparent that it is a single panel - I decided to show you that you can sponge, spray or embellish the panel any way you like!

This second card is based off of the Briny Blue card shown at left (click on the image to go to the original post), created before there were Briny Blue 1 and Briny Blue 2 dies. The concept is the same, with two images on the horizon. This new card featuring Giddy Gumdrops and Gumdrops Icons combines the dies for the two images - the gingerbread couple - with the Borders 1 die to create the single panel.

I made this third card off-camera to show you another example of a non-holiday-themed card using this same technique. It could very well be used as a holiday card but it's simple and speaks volumes. I bet you can all guess who this sweet little doxie card is going to! ;)

All of the cards use patterned paper from Studio Calico's Magical paper pad in the background. They're all slightly different in their sizes and rounded corners to show you how a little bit of detail goes a long way in changing the look of the cards.

I hope you've enjoyed this tutorial and if you do give it a try, I'd love to see your version! Feel free to link up in the comments below. I'll definitely stop by for a visit!

Thanks so much for watching!
