Birthday Blog Hop for Judith

Welcome to the birthday blog hop for Judith Gowdy of Jay Gee's Nook and Jane's Doodles. Past and present members of both design teams have come together today to celebrate this special day. Big thanks to Joy Taylor who organized this wonderful surprise for Judith on her birthday. You should've arrived from Renee's blog but, if not, be sure to start at Ange's blog so you don't miss any of the celebrations!

Happy, Happy Birthday, Judith!!

I used a bunch of Paper Smooches products to create this lovely floral birthday card for Judith. First, I trimmed the light blue panel and die cut the Flourishes 1 Dies twice to create the negative background. Then I cut the Big Bloom Dies from patterned paper, twice also, scrunched them up and layered them with foam tape. I added a brad to the centre, stamped a sentiment from Birthday Sampler and adhered it to the flower with a little silk bow.

Thanks so much for stopping by to celebrate Judith's birthday with us! Be sure to leave some love on all the blogs and especially at Jay Gee's Nook for your chance to win the prize pack shown there. Now you are off to Joy's blog!

Today, I'm featuring the Shadows stamp set. I've wanted a stamp set like this forever and was ecstatic when Kim agreed to make one. The single shadows from Hot Concoctions and Vogue Abode are two of my most used stamps ever so I can assure you that the Shadows set is going to be well-loved! Not to worry, it's not just for shadows. ;)

There's a lot of watercolouring on my card today. I had so much fun with it. First, I stamped the ground using the longest shadow in the set. I did this in two colours to simulate grass and mud. Then I used some masking paper to bury the bones in the ground. I used Ranger markers and a watercolour brush to blend everything together.

I also coloured the cat and dog, from Nine Lives and Woofers & Tweeters, respectively, using the same technique. On my card, I also used a sentiment from Wicked Nauticool, which is being showcased by Karolyn and Laurie on this hop. Be sure to check it out!

Thanks so much for stopping by today. Remember to check back here on Saturday to see if you are the lucky winner of the Shadows stamp set!

{Mama Elephant} Papa Love with Video Tutorial + Today Was

I'm back to share two more projects as a guest designer for Mama Elephant. My first card uses the Papa Love stamp set and I created a wardrobe of ties for Father's Day.

Here's a quick video tutorial to show you how I did it:

When Dad opens the doors, he'll find a nice assortment of ties for every occasion. ;)

My second card using Today Was  is a clean and simple one-layer card. I was inspired by my son's artwork. Lately, he's been drawing a lot of shapes, mazes and stick figures. The happy faces are his favourite and he draws them on all his people. Heehee.

I imagined the coloured triangles as a maze that leads to the sentiment and then the smiling couple. I used the 'circle' for the dates to stamp their heads and used a marker to draw their faces. I'll give this to my little man, of course!

It's been an honour guesting for Mama Elephant this month. Big thanks to Kryssi for inviting me to showcase her stamps! Thanks again for your sweet comments here and on the Mama Elephant Blog!
