{Two Many Cards Video Series} featuring My Favorite Things + Giveaway!

Hi, everyone! Kalyn and I are back with our video series, Two Many Cards. If you missed our other videos in this series, check out the original post HERE, which explains how and why we're sharing our own unique take on the same products.

Today, we're featuring the fabulous and fun Mod Birds stamp set and coordinating dies, as well as the Sassy Pants Best Friends stamp set, all by My Favorite Things! The Mod Birds stamp set is a two-step layering stamp set that is easy to use and so fun to create with. I love that the birds and flowers can be used individually or combined in so many different ways. Together with the Sassy Pants Best Friends stamp set, I'll never run out of ideas to make my friends laugh!

I love making multiple cards with the same colour schemes. These two cards are similar but also very different. The concept for the first one was a shaker, which turned into a faux shaker and then eventually just a fairly simple card with dimension.

I created a frame using the stitched rectangle from Blueprints 29 and the third largest Stitched Arch STAX die. I recut the Stitched Arch STAX from watercolour cardstock so I could sponge it with distress inks to match the stamped images. I splattered shimmer spritz on to the finished background.

I stamped a super fun sentiment from Sassy Pants Best Friends to complement the scene and added clear round drops in three sizes to complete the card.

For my second card, I once again sponged a background, this time using the Cloud Stencil. I covered the entire linen cardstock panel, which was die cut using the stitched scallop rectangle from Blueprints 27.

I used masking paper to protect the bottom and side edges before sponging the clouds. I used the same six distress ink colours as the first card. You can click on the photo below to see the crosshatch details from the linen cardstock coming through the clouds. It's really beautiful!

After stamping another hilarious sentiment from Sassy Pants Best Friends at the top of the panel, I assembled the card. I adhered all of the elements with glue dots, doubling up behind the birds for slightly more dimension. This card is busier but flatter than the first and therefore easy to mail.

{Altenew} Amazing 90th Birthday

It's been a while since my son has crafted with me. Normally, he crafts with his dad when they make cards for each other before my husband goes on a business trip. My dad turned 90 recently so my son and I collaborated on this birthday card using Altenew products!

Damian did all the colouring and it was his first time watercolouring with distress inks (colours are linked below). He loved it and thought the results were "very cool", as any 10-year-old boy might say. LOL! Copic markers or Prismacolor pencils are his go-to mediums but I think he might be reaching for the distress inks next time. ;)

I pre-stamped multiple images from Peony Scrolls with Archival jet black ink and Damian coloured them before I die cut them using the coordinating dies. The sentiment is from the You Are... stamp set, which is also featured in my first Altenew Academy class, Sentiments With Impact.

My dad is an avid gardener so I tend to use flowers and pretty colours on all his cards. Red and gold are also important and positive colours in Chinese culture so I always try to incorporate those on his cards.

All of the amazing new products are now available for purchase!

Today, I'm featuring the Lots of Sentiments stamp set, along with the Kind Cosmos stamp set and coordinating dies. This card was a labour of love and also frustration because I messed it up three times! However, the layered die cuts and dry embossing details would not have made it on to this card if it weren't for the first two mistakes. ;)

First, I stamped the four sentiments in three different blues down the centre of the card. I used my MISTI stamping tool to help me line these up and keep them centred.

Next, I set stamped the Kind Cosmos around the outer edge of the panel to create a frame. I used two shades of coral and two shades of orange. All of my ink colours are listed in the supply list below.

On my first attempt, I smudged one of the sentiments. On my second attempt, I smudged one of the flowers! I decided to selectively die cut some of the flowers to cover the smudged flower. I also added some dry embossing to create two layers of visual interest on this otherwise clean and simple design.

{Technique Tuesday} February 2019 Release Hop: Day 1

Welcome to Day 1 of Technique Tuesday's February 2019 Release Blog Hop! The design team is featuring a variety of release products and you're sure to love them so be sure to head over to the Technique Tuesday blog for the full reveal and links to all of the amazing projects. All of the amazing new products are now available for purchase!

Today, I'm featuring the Kind Cosmos stamp set and coordinating dies. I used a simple and traditional layout for this card to show off the simplicity and beauty of the image by repeating it three times across the bottom of the panel.

I heat embossed the cosmos and sentiment with sparkle embossing powder and watercolored the images with four distress inks, all listed below.

To highlight the colours in the flowers, I blended three of the four distress ink colours into the bottom half of the base panel. Then I arranged the three die cuts and adhered them with large glue dots.

These flowers can be coloured so many ways and in different colours for very different effects. The three sentiments included in this set make it extremely versatile and useful year-round.
