{Technique Tuesday} November 2018 Release Countdown: Day 2

Welcome to Day 2 of Technique Tuesday's November 2018 Release Countdown! The design team is featuring a variety of release products and you're sure to love them so be sure to head over to the Technique Tuesday blog for the full reveal and links to all of the amazing projects. All of the product links will go live on November 1, 2018 for your shopping pleasure.

Today, I'm showcasing the gorgeous Perfect Poinsettia stamp set and coordinating dies. This is obviously the must-have floral for the holidays! It also has the three best sentiments to customize your cards for friends who are picky about their greetings.

I heat embossed the image and watercoloured with distress inks (all colours are linked below). I dry embossed the white panel with a wood plank embossing folder and heat embossed the sentiment on that. Then I wrapped gold metallic string around it and popped up the poinsettia with foam tape. I used multi-medium matte to adhere the string to the panel and the flower. That made me nervous but I love how it looks, permanently curved! To finish, I added a few gold sequins.

Thanks so much for stopping by! See you tomorrow for Release Day!

{Technique Tuesday} November 2018 Release Countdown: Day 1

Welcome to Day 1 of Technique Tuesday's November 2018 Release Countdown! The design team is featuring a variety of release products and you're sure to love them so be sure to head over to the Technique Tuesday blog for the full reveal and links to all of the amazing projects. All of the product links will go live on November 1, 2018 for your shopping pleasure.

Today, I'm showcasing the Christmas Cocoa stamp set and it's a fun one! When I saw the sentiment with Santa, I knew I had to include the Santa image from Dear Santa.

I stamped the Santa directly on to the panel and coloured him with Copic markers. On a separate piece of cardstock, using masks, I stamped the two mugs from Christmas Cocoa, coloured them with Copic markers (all colours are listed below) and fussy cut the two images as a single piece.

Before adhering the mugs with foam tape, I stamped the sentiment with Versafine pigment ink and I second generation stamped the scripted 'Ho Ho Ho' from Dear Santa along the left edge for visual interest. To finish, I added a strip of black and white stripes, a strip of black glitter cardstock and embellished with sparkling crystals.

See you tomorrow for Day 2 of the November Release Countdown!

{Technique Tuesday} Planner Medical, Gertie Goat + November Sneak Peek

My son and I are battling colds so making this card was good therapy. LOL I mixed the nurse and needle from Planner Medical with Gertie from Gertie and Garth Goat with a sneak peek from the upcoming November 2018 Release!

If you've been following the Technique Tuesday sneak peeks on their blog and Instagram account, you'll have seen sneak peeks of a fun set called Hello Winter and the nurse's cozy boots are from that set. I stamped them and made a photocopy of them at 60% so they'd be proportional to her head.

I used a Copic multiliner to drawn in her neck, shoulders and legs and I didn't want to risk ruining everything by drawing in hands so I just left the needle where it was. If I had to make this again, I would've put the needle lower so that only half of the syringe was showing to make it more realistic. The googly eyes, of course, make the goat look mighty worried. LOL

Here are a few photos of the card featured in my video. I used the fun and adorable Coffeesaurus stamp set by Gerda Steiner Designs.

I heat embossed the coffee-loving T-Rex and used the mirror stamping technique to create a reflection in the water. He's inviting a friend to join him for coffee but he's also enjoying coffee with his reflection. ;)

I used distress inks to watercolour the panel and added gold crystals to symbolize prehistoric rocks on the shore.

{Technique Tuesday} Mandala Maker & Mandala Sentiments

I'm just popping in with a couple of cards I made using Technique Tuesday's Mandala Maker Crafting Die and the Mandala Sentiments Stamp Set. Both of my cards use the same four distress ink colours (linked below) in two very different ways. I used ink daubers to create a colour of rings for this background and misted it with water, followed by splatters of white, black and pink ink.

I only used the first two rings from the Mandala Maker Crafting Die. [Buy this die while it's 20% off at Ellen Hutson!] It's just so detailed and I wanted to feature it simply with white glitter cardstock. Its beauty stands alone and doesn't need any colour or inserts. I finished it with a sentiment from the Mandala Sentiments Stamp Set, which I popped up with foam tape.

My second card features four of the five rings from the Mandala Sentiments Stamp Set, stamped with the distress inks I used to create the watercolour background in the first card.

After stamping, I splattered the distress inks with a lot of shimmer spritz so it would react with the inked mandala colours.

I heat embossed the sentiment on vellum and die cut the circle, applying it to the centre of the mandala using vellum adhesive. Then I embellished the mandala with 3mm and 4mm sparkling clear sequins. This card is truly clean and simple in design but it's super sparkly in person.

{Two Many Cards Video Series} featuring The Stamp Market: Beautiful Blooms & Lots of Leaves + Giveaway!

Hi, everyone! Kalyn and I are back with our video series, Two Many Cards. If you missed our other videos in this series, check out the original post HERE, which explains how and why we're sharing our own unique take on the same products.

Today, we're featuring Beautiful Blooms and Lots of Leaves bundles by The Stamp Market! These stamps and dies are also sold separately at Ellen Hutson and you can find those links below. By the way, there's a die sale on at Ellen Hutson right now so you can buy the stamps and save on the dies! ;)

I can't say enough wonderful things about both these sets! Once you see Kalyn's take on Lots of Leaves, you know what I mean when I say the possibilities are endless. Go simple or complicated and you can do just about anything with this cute little set.

I can't wait to do more with these leaves, like make a wreath or just showcase the gorgeous word die! I don't think I'll ever tire of using these leaves for cards throughout the year. I would be easy to combine it with other sets, even the Beautiful Blooms and make cards for all occasions.

As I mentioned in my video, Beautiful Blooms is a one-of-a-kind stamp set where the greenery is designed to nestle up against the flowers for one-layer stamping without the need to mask! This is really genius and I haven't seen it anywhere else.

With five fabulous sentiments, I'm sure you can imagine these blooms in just about every colour combo. Beautiful Blooms is perfect for creating your best friend's next card in her favourite colours.

GIVEAWAY
We’re giving away one $25 gift certificate to The Stamp Market store. One lucky winner will be chosen randomly from my video or Kalyn’s video. You must be a subscriber to both our channels!

Be sure to leave some love for both of us to increase your chances of winning! Comments will close at 11:59pm EST on October 22, 2018 and the winner will be announced in the YouTube description for today's video shortly after. Be sure to check back then.

{Technique Tuesday} Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to all my Canadian friends and family! I hope you had an amazing long weekend filled with the company of loved ones and great food. Today, I'm sharing a couple of cards I put together using the coloured images I shared on Instagram a few days ago.

At first look, you may think that the Happy Thanksgiving stamp set is only for planners and not for cardmakers but I've found that planner stamp sets are extremely useful for cardmaking and some of my favourite Technique Tuesday stamp sets are specifically planner sets!

This first card basically uses the same circle of images I shared on Instagram but I swapped the turkey with the apple and pear so that the colours were more evenly distributed around the wreath. I also wanted to use the remaining image - the branch of leaves, which was impossible to fussy cut - so I stamped those on the card base to create a basic wreath, leaving space in between for all of the images.

Since I scored the background before stamping, I had to heat emboss the main sentiment on vellum before attaching it to the panel. I popped the images on foam tape to give the card dimension.

The sentiment on my second card was also heat embossed and I went with a grid layout for the images to balance the longer, blockier sentiment.

This time, I just added two simple score lines to the vertical edges. Just like on the first card, I also stamped some of the images on the panel before adhering the coloured pieces. For example, the pie and turkey now have their steam, and the pumpkin, acorn and fruit now have their stems. The images on this card were adhered flat with glue.

WCMD Blog Hop with Technique Tuesday

Hello and welcome to Technique Tuesday's World Card Making Day Blog Hop! In honour of this special day in our crafting community, Technique Tuesday has released a stamp set called You're Owlsome with coordinating You're Owlsome Crafting Dies. The design team and several special guests are excited to share their creations using this fabulous set and I have details below on how to get it FREE with purchase! There is also a giveaway so be sure to hop along for your chance to win and be inspired.

I adore these owls and the details on them, as well as the beautiful sentiments with dual fonts. I love sentiments that combine straight and scripted fonts and these ones are so great for uplifting cards.

I used my Gansai paint set to watercolour two encouragement cards. Individual colours are included in the supply list below. The images and sentiments were heat embossed with clear embossing powder.

Since I used a rainbow of colours on the owls, I created a rainbow wash for the backgrounds and added black and white splatter, as well as golden copper star sequins on the blue card and crystal star sequins on the red card.

GIVEAWAY: Technique Tuesday is giving away a gift certificate to one lucky winner chosen randomly from all the stops on this hop. The more you comment, the higher your chances of winning! Comments will close on Monday, October 8, 2018 and the winner will be announced on the Technique Tuesday Blog on Wednesday, October 10, 2018.

SPECIAL PROMOTION: You can get the You're Owlsome stamp set for free with any $30 purchase on the Technique Tuesday website. Simply add $30 worth of products into your cart (I'd  suggest the You're Owlsome Crafting Dies), add the You're Owlsome stamp set to your cart and enter code WCMD18 at checkout to get the stamp set for free!
