Ellen Hutson | Essentials by Ellen April 2021 Release Instagram Hop + Prizes

The Essentials by Ellen April 2021 Release is HERE and the Brand Ambassadors are celebrating with an Instagram Hop to bring you inspiration using the latest products! While appreciated, comments left here are not eligible for one of three $25 gift certificates. Please head to Instagram for all the details!

I'm featuring the super adorable Love Notes Stamp Set and coordinating Love Notes Dies by Julie Ebersole. There are nine sweet images in this stamp set, along with coordinating phrases.

I stamped these images on Neenah heavyweight cardstock and coloured them with Copic markers YR07, Y26 and BG13 to coordinate with the coloured cardstock. I did very simple, straight-forward colouring without shading and whipped these up in no time.

I used the Mini Note Die as a base for these mini notecards or lunchbox notecards. I love making mini notes for my son and husband so I was really excited to see this die! It will get used a lot. This die is interactive, with a perforated window but I chose not to use it in that manner.

I trimmed squares and strips of cardstock using Lawn Fawn metallic gold, Bazzill Circus Peanuts, Gold Coins and Candy Necklace. After adhering the squares and strips to the mini notes, I stamped the best sentiments from the Besties Stamp Set on the insides to coordinate with the cute little images.

After the sentiments were done, I popped each of the images on their respective mini notes with foam tape. There is one image that is from an older set and that's the hand throwing the paper airplane, which is from the Handful Stamp Set and coordinating Handful Dies. I thought it worked nicely together and I love that I could colour coordinating nail polish!

VIDEO | Taylored Expressions | Teacher/Grad Cards + Simple Storage for Building Blocks

Hello, crafty friends! I'm always excited to bring you another Taylored Expressions video and this time, it's all about teachers and grads! Be sure to check out all of the amazing products in the new Teacher/Grad Release. Most of us have teachers and grads in our life and it's that time of year to start cranking out those cards and gifts!

I used the same colour scheme to make one teacher card and one grad card. In the video, I also give you a close-up look at the new must-have Simple Storage for Building Blocks so be sure to check that out!

My first card uses the new Full Circle - School stamp set with the Notepaper Background. I stamped the doodle image twice on a 4" x 5.25" panel, then used the Stitched Circle Stacklets to create masks before stamping the Notepaper Background on an angle with Sprinkles ink.

After removing the masks, I colour the images with Copic markers (colours listed in the supply links below), then use Sprinkles and Peaches 'n Cream inks and a Circle Masking Stencil to blending the backgrounds.

I cut two A2 panels, one from Sprinkles cardstock and another from Peaches 'n Cream cardstock. I cut them both diagonally down the centre and used one half of each on a Toffee card base. Then I heat embossed the sentiments on Oreo cardstock and die cut them using the Mini Strips Die and added silver glitter frames using the Mini Strips Backer.

I added the sentiment strips to the card with foam tape and toggled them at different angles for visual interest. To finish, I added silver drip drops to some of the circles on the images. This card, with its neutral colours, would be suitable for any teacher and covers so many subjects from art and science to geography and math!

My second card features the On the Block - Grad and Building Blocks - Well Done. I'm a huge fan of the On the Block series and literally freak out every time a new one is released!

As I mentioned in my previous video, you can use the Dahlia Stencil as flower, confetti or fireworks and I've used them here as fireworks to celebrate the grad. I used the new Bitty Blender Brushes to add Peaches 'n Cream, Sprinkles and Blue Corn inks to this stencil and I have total heart eyes for the effect!

I heat embossed On the Block - Grad on Blue Corn cardstock using Sugar Cube ink and set it with halo embossing powder for maximum effect. I die cut the heat embossed word and two additional layers using the On the Block - Grad Shadow, in Peaches 'n Cream and white glitter cardstock. To finish, I added sentiment strips from Building Blocks - Well Done and popped everything on a Peaches 'n Cream card base.

Thanks so much for watching!

Ellen Hutson | April 30th Release Sneak Peek #4

Ellen Hutson has a new Essentials by Ellen Release out this Friday, April 30, 2021 and I'm excited to give you this first sneak peek at the Essential Hexagons Die SetPieced Together stamp set and Stitched Together stamp set! All three of these sets work so beautifully together.  Brandi Kincaid illustrated the stamp sets and they were inspired by quilting and sewing motifs. The hexagon dies, designed by Heather Meeson, frame the illustrations and sentiments perfectly.

There are seven patterns in the Pieced Together stamp set and I only used one of them. They're all equally stunning and you'll definitely have fun mixing and matching them, as well as colouring them!

I stamped my chosen image three times on watercolour cardstock with Versafine Clair pigment ink in Morning Mist and heat embossed them with WOW Clear Sparkle embossing powder. If you click on any of the images, you can zoom in and see the sparkly detail on the images and sentiment.

I used a fine Ranger artist brush and distress inks in Wilted Violet, Twisted Citron, Peacock Feathers and Chipped Sapphire. After the images dried, I die cut them using the Essential Hexagons Die Set. I used the same die to cut three additional frames for each hexagon, two from watercolour cardstock and one from gold cardstock. Then I used liquid glue to stack the three frames together.

I heat embossed the sentiment from the Stitched Together stamp set, then adhered the three images and their frames to the panel with liquid glue. I added faux French knots to the centres using light parrot green embroidery floss, and gold Stickles to the eight stamen in each hexagon.

Ellen Hutson | April 30th Release Sneak Peek #3

Ellen Hutson has a new Essentials by Ellen Release out this Friday, April 30, 2021 and I'm excited to give you this first sneak peek at the Mod Floral Die and Mondo Tulip stamp set! I also snuck in the 4Bar Rectangle dies since I won't be able to live without them. As it turns out, I already make 50% of my cards in the 4Bar size at 4" x 5.5" so I'll be using these a lot. ;)

I instantly fell in love with the Mod Floral Die the second I saw it! I love clusters of little blooms and big dies like this are perfect for quick, clean and simple cards. They're so easy to use as is, watercolored or even dry embossed to add texture. For this card, I die cut the Mod Floral Die from Canson watercolour cardstock.

I used Gansai Tambi solid watercolours to colour the blooms. I own the 36 Colour Set but you can also buy the individual colours I used, which are Red (32), Scarlet Red (31), Orange (33), Bright Yellow (42) and Mid Green (53). I used a brush to apply colour to each of the blooms, one colour at a time, using my heat tool to dry them in between colours so they wouldn't bleed too much. I applied two layers of colour to maximize saturation and impact.

Next, I used the largest of the 4Bar Rectangle dies and cut it three times, twice from Neenah heavyweight cardstock and once from metallic gold cardstock. I used liquid glue to stack the layers and set it aside while I prepared a white linen card base cut to 4" x 5.5" and a panel of Bazzill cardstock in Candy Necklace, which is one of the richest, most beautiful colours ever.

I placed the Candy Necklace panel, gold 4Bar Rectangle frame and Mod Floral Die die in my mini MISTI stamping tool to determine where to stamp the sentiment from the Mondo Tulip stamp set. I stamped it with Versafine Onyx Black pigment ink, my favourite for crisp sentiments. Then I adhered the panel to the card base, the gold frame to the panel and popped up the Mod Floral Die and loose blooms with foam tape and micro glue dots.

Ellen Hutson | April 30th Release Sneak Peek #2

Ellen Hutson has a new Essentials by Ellen Release out this Friday, April 30, 2021 and I'm excited to give you this first sneak peek at the Cake stamp set, coordinating dies and 4Bar Rectangle dies!

As always, I start my cards by choosing ink colours. Since Cake is a layering stamp set, and my favourite kind of stamp set (no colouring - haha), I chose vibrant inks by Catherine Pooler Designs - Samba, Tiara, Mint To Be, Fiesta Blue, Over Coffee and Icing on the Cake.

I first stamped the outline images with Gina K Amalgam Ink in Obsidian. All of the colours are stamped straight forwardly but the chocolate cake was rock 'n rolled in Over Coffee and Icing on the Cake. After the images were done, I die cut them with the coordinating dies and set them aside.

I used the 4Bar Rectangles to die cut white frames, which I layered three high for dimension. I cut centres out from Bazzill Rose Quartz, adding details on the two side rectangles with the Stitching Lines die set. I stamped the sentiment on the centre rectangle and used liquid glue to adhere the rectangle frames and inserts to a Bazzill Butter Mints panel. I popped the sweets on foam tape and added Majestic glitter by Studio Katia to tie everything in with the sentiment.

Ellen Hutson | April 30th Release Sneak Peek #1

Ellen Hutson has a new Essentials by Ellen Release out this Friday, April 30, 2021 and I'm excited to give you this first sneak peek at the You Are Awesome stamp set and Mini Rainbow die!

This is the cutest little set and I tripled the fun by die cutting the Mini Rainbow die three times across an 8.75" x 3.75" slimline card. Both the card base and panel were cut from white linen cardstock.

I used Catherine Pooler inks and blending brushes to add colour to each of the rainbow arcs, rotating between Do-Si-Do, Melon Ice, Mint To Be and Sweet Sixteen as I went down each rainbow and across to the right of the card.

Placing the top panel in my MISTI stamping tool, I used the You Are Awesome stamp set to stamp the dots, doodled line and sentiment on their respective arcs using Versafine Onyx Black pigment ink.

To create the shaker element, I used Scor-Tape to secure acetate to the back of the panel. Then I used foam tape to create the walls that house the iridescent mini star sequins by Pretty Pink Posh.
