Spellbinders | BOGO Sale feat. Build a Fall Birdhouse + Tweet Sentiments

Today's the last day for the Spellbinders BOGO Party Sale so I hope you take advantage of it! There are so many great deals on fabulous products and who doesn't like getting something for free?

Two of the sets featured on this card are part of the Buy One Get One Free sale and they're both part of the Birdhouses Through the Seasons collection which I previously showcased HERE.

I used the Build a Fall Birdhouse for the birdhouse itself and a sentiment from Tweet Sentiments, both of which are part of the sale. The bird and branches are from Sweet Birds on a Branch which is not part of the sale but you'll definitely want to have these birds because they're so versatile and I guarantee will be used often if you have them in your crafty stash!

I chose Hero Hues cardstock in Coral, Kiwi, Paradise, Adriatic and Lavender, plus Simon Says Stamp Dark Chocolate for my scene. I also used the Sun Burst Stencil to dry emboss rays into the Lavender panel. To add some sparkle, I added silver elements in the form of a strip on the left, the peg for the birdhouse and the embroidery floss.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Catherine Pooler | 5-Year Ink-Aversary Promo + Giveaway + Sale

Happy weekend, crafty friends! This post includes a set of cards using two of my favourite sets and one of my favourite colour combos, as well as news about Catherine Pooler's upcoming Ink-Aversary Sale from November 1st to 2nd!!

Also on November 1st at noon EST on Catherine Pooler's YouTube channel, there will be information on how we're celebrating with a chance to win an entire year of new Catherine Pooler ink releases! Wouldn't that be a dream?

I made a set of adorable, flat and easy-to-mail cards featuring Lovely Birdies and Hey Pumpkin, which are two of my favourite sets. Lovely Birdies was originally a Club Sursee set that was later widely-released, much to my delight. You can see another card I made using it HERE.

Hey Pumpkin was released last year and it was so popular that it sold out very quickly and restocked at least twice. I love it because pumpkins are awesome and they can be combined with so many things, including coffee and animals. The Jack-o-Lantern mini add-on, also included in the Hey Pumpkin Bundle, allows you to customize it for Halloween.

The colour combination shown on these cards is inspired by the Grandma's Attic Slimline Patterned Paper, of which three patterns are used on fold side of these cards.

I love that I could use a patterned paper pack geared toward the holidays/Christmas and a stamp set geared towards Halloween and mix both of these with Lovely Birdies and a sentiment from Give Thanks Sentiments to make cards for three different occasions.

I rotated the three brightest colours - Polished, Clay Mask and Hot Tub - for the pumpkins and the bird on each card to provide variation.

The branches, leaves and grass using Green TeaEucalyptus and Spruce all stayed the same, as did the bird outline and pumpkin stems using Over Coffee and Icing on the Cake.

I love making multiple, same-but-different cards all at once. The easiest way to do this is pick a colour combo based on a patterned paper pack or an inspiration photo, whether it be a card, book cover, etc., then stamp several of each image and decide on a layout. Making all the cards the same is great but rotating the elements and switching up the sentiments makes for a fun, versatile set, perfect for giving individually or as a set!

Click HERE or on the banner below on November 1st and 2nd to get 15% off Full-Size Ink Pads and Refills, excluding the new 6 Luxe Inks.

Pigment Craft | Merry Christmas + A Happy New Year

Hello, crafty friends! I'm so excited to be guesting on the Pigment Craft blog today with these two cards using products from the October Release! As I've mentioned before, I love anything font-related and these two Merry Christmas and Happy New Year stamp sets with coordinating dies had to be highlighted!

To create the Merry Christmas card, I first used the Bold Diagonal Stripe Stencil to dry emboss the background panel. I ran both stencils through my die cutting machine at the same time, using the embossing pad and plate to get the double striped detailing and I love the way it looks!

Then I stamped several Whimsy Snowflakes using Jade, Eucalyptus and Sage inks. After using the coordinating Whimsy Snowflakes Dies, I arranged them on the dry embossed panel, popping up three on foam tape and glueing three flat.

I stamped Merry Christmas using Fig, Tumeric and Fir inks, then die cut it using the coordinating Merry Christmas Dies and silver glitter cardstock. After assembling the card, I added white pearls in the centres of three of the snowflakes.

For my Happy New Year card, I created my card base and panel from white linen cardstock before stamping the blooms and foliage from the Festive Floral stamp set. The ink colours for the flowers are Glow, Quince, Terracotta and Fig. The ink colours for the foliage are JadeEucalyptusSage and Fir inks.

I die cut the stamped images using the coordinating Festive Floral Dies and arranged them around the perimeter of the card, popping the biggest flowers up with foam tape and attaching the rest with a combination of glue dots and liquid glue.

I stamped Happy New Year in both Fir and Seagrass, so I could use the Seagrass hearts as accents. Again, I used silver glitter cardstock as the shadow cut from the Happy New Year Die to make this as festive as possible!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope these projects inspire you to create this week.

Catherine Pooler + WOW! Insta Hop Follow-Up | 'Tis the Season

Today's the last day to hop along with the WOW! Embossing and Catherine Pooler teams on Instagram Hop and comment for your chance to win one of two $30 gift cards, one for the Catherine Pooler store and one for the WOW! Embossing store. Please head over to Instagram for all the details.

For this card, I challenged myself to use the gorgeous images from We Fit, a non-holiday set, and turn it into a holiday card. I love collecting Christmas tree ornaments, especially cute animal ones so, naturally, the kitty matryoshka doll is my favourite of the bunch.

I started by stamping the images from We Fit in Cranberry Fizz, Glitz, Uptown and Dress Blues. Then I inked the images again with the WOW! Embossing Pad and heat embossed them with Rockin' Red, Glitz, Uptown and Dress Blues embossing powders, respectively.

After die cutting the images with the coordinating We Fit Dies, I stamped the sentiment from Nostalgic Season in Midnight on a 3.75" x 5" panel. Then I heat embossed it with Black Twinkle embossing powder.

I arranged the die cut images around the sentiment before attaching them with liquid glue. After trimming off the overhanging bits, I attached the panel to a white linen card base. Please head to THIS Instagram post and swipe to see a quick video of the embossing powder.

Catherine Pooler | Be Thankful Always

I whipped up this card over two days, in between all the craziness of life and my design team assignments. It's not too often that I get to make something just because so it felt nice and was very satisfying! This card is perfect for an autumn thank you card or for the upcoming American Thanksgiving holiday. I used six stamp and die sets from Catherine Pooler, plus the complete set of eight Luxe Ink Pads  including the six new Luxe Ink Pads. If you don't have the previously released colours from the new collection, you can by all eight colours together HERE.

I knew I wanted to use the squirrel from Warm My Heart, which I stamped in Black Jack since most of our squirrels are black. I also stamped the little acorn several times, using Deck the Halls for the cupule and Icing on the Cake for the nut. I ombre-stamped the wagon with Sand Castle, Over Coffee and Icing on the Cake to use as a crate. Also from the same set, I stamped the cardinal with Cranberry Fizz and Icing on the Cake, and the three different leaves in GlitzFlame and Glam.

The chair is from His and Hers and I stamped it with Dress Blues. I had a hard time deciding if I wanted the squirrel sitting on the chair cushion or on the very top since both versions looked good. My husband said that the squirrel hides too much of the chair when in it so I placed him on top. Squirrels like high vantage points anyway. ;)

To create the dry embossed panel, I trimmed it to 3.75" x 5" and used the Narrow Stripe Cover Plate Die to create a detailed stripes in the top lefthand corner. Then I ombre-stamped the sentiment from Give Thanks Sentiments using Martini, Uptown and Deck the Halls. I also used the Morning Joe Border Dies with two prints from Across the Globe to create the anchor for my scene, which is also a great transition piece to the sentiment.

VIDEO | Taylored Expressions | Handmade for the Holidays feat. Snow Squad Tag Set

Welcome! I hope you're all having a wonderful fall weekend. It's finally gotten cool here and I'm not sure how I feel about it. I was still wearing a t-shirt and shorts last week. I do love sweaters and puffy vests but they'll take some getting used to! At least it feels right to be making a video for Christmas tags. These feature the new Snow Squad Die & Clear Stamp Combo from the Handmade for the Holidays Release by Taylored Expressions.

I made two styles of tags using the Snow Squad Die & Clear Stamp Combo. As always, the first thing I do is choose the colour theme and the main colours featured here are Cookie MonsterPlum Punch and Eggplant. Staples include Sugar CubeToffee and Oreo. Also included are white, black and gold glitter cardstock.

The tag bases for both sets of tags were cut from the two largest sizes of Tag Stacklets 2 and Pierced Tag Stacklets 2, which layer on top of each other, leaving a tiny border.

In order to make sure that the three main colours - Cookie MonsterPlum Punch and Eggplant - are represented on each tag, I rotated the colours for each animal's scarf and noses. Since the noses were small, I used that same colour for the Tag Reinforcements.

I used the white blender brush with Sugar Cube pigment ink and the Stencil Strips - Holiday stencils to add detail to the tops of each tag. I just love this added detail, especially the white on kraft!

Other small details include gold tinsel heat embossing on the scarves and stamped cheeks using Cupcake ink.

For all six tags, I die cut white glitter snow hills using the Build a Scene - Rolling Hills dies. On the smaller tags, I placed the hills behind the animals and on the larger tags, I tucked the animals behind the top edge of the hill.

On the smaller tags, I stamped sentiments directly on the tags, on top of the stencilled details using the Pretty Package - Holiday Tags stamp set. On the larger tags, I stamped sentiments from Tag Team - Christmas directly on to colour coordinated Tag Team Dies. All tags were embellished with black white twine.

Thanks so much for watching!

Catherine Pooler + WOW! Insta Hop

The teams at WOW! Embossing and Catherine Pooler have combined to bring you a fun Instagram Hop full of inspiration with the NEW Luxe Inks and WOW! heat embossing delight. To celebrate this fun-filled hop we have 2 x $30 gift cards up for grabs. One for the Catherine Pooler store and one for the WOW! Embossing store. While appreciated, comments left here will not qualify. Please head over to Instagram for all the details.

I'm always excited when two of my favourite companies collaborate on amazing products and I love the gorgeous WOW! Embossing powders that coordinate with Catherine Pooler's new Luxe inks, Glitz/Glitz Embossing Glitter, Uptown/Uptown Embossing Glitter and Dress Blues/Dress Blues Embossing Glitter. I also used WOW! Embossing powders in Halo and Midnight Dream.

For my first card, I used the Folk Floral Background, selectively inking the top and bottom edges with Glitz ink, the stamping the entire background a second time with the WOW! Embossing Pad and heat embossing it with Halo Embossing Glitter.

For both cards, I ombre stamped all the leaves from Autumn is Calling in the following combinations: Flame/Glitz, Martini/Uptown, Dress Blues/Glam. Then I used the WOW! Embossing Pad on the edge that coordinates with the Glitz, Uptown and Dress Blues Embossing Glitters, heat embossing those on the leaves.

I die cut the Oh Happy Day Word Dies from two layers of heavyweight white cardstock and mirror silver cardstock. I adhered all three layers together with Bearly Art liquid glue for dimension. I assembled the laurels and popped them on to the top and bottom of the Folk Floral Background with foam tape. Then I adhered Oh Happy Day with Bearly Art liquid glue.

For my second card, I die cut a frame using the Scallops & Dots Dies but instead of using the scalloped mat, I used the negative piece as a frame on the white linen card base. Then I stacked two of the pierced frame for dimension and adhered it to the card base. I popped up a selection of the the leaves from Autumn is Calling on foam tape.

I stamped the sentiment from Give Thanks Sentiments using Juniper Mist ink and heat embossed it with Midnight Dream Embossing Glitter. I trimmed it down into a strip, which I adhered with glue dots just to give it a bit of dimension.

To finish, I added sequins in coordinating colours from the Park Avenue, Mystic and Tinseltown sequin mixes.

I hope you'll hop along on Instagram for loads of inspiration and a chance to win! Thanks so much for hopping along with us!
