Ellen Hutson | Interactive Cards feat. Spellbinders Happy Dance Collection

Ellen Hutson has added lots of new Spellbinders products to the shop, including the Happy Dance Collection! When I saw the adorable drinks, flowers, glue and prize ribbon, I knew I had to have them. There are also two sentiment sets, We Dance Glimmer Sentiments, which I used on both these cards, and the Happy Parents Day Glimmer.

I made two cards using the same colours of Bazzill heavyweight cardstock from the Ellen Hutson shop. These include Marshmallow Chick, Gold Coins, Juicy Pear, Easter Grass, GumdropRobin's Egg, Candy NecklacePeanut Cluster and Licorice. The specialty cardstocks are Spellbinders gold mirror cardstock and Essentials by Ellen white linen cardstock.

On this Mother's Day card, I used the I Dance die set, adding the hot foil sentiment from We Dance Glimmer Sentiments to the sleeve on the coffee cup. I also used the flowers from the same die set as accents. You can create a huge bouquet as the object for the hands to hold but I used them as accents here.

To create the background, I cut a 0.875" x 4" strip of Robin's Egg cardstock, taped it flush to a 3.25" x 4" piece of white linen cardstock and again to a piece of 1.125" x 4" strip of Gumdrop cardstock. Then I dry embossed that panel using the Head in the Clouds embossing folder.

For my Father's Day card, I had to use the beer mug because it's so awesome! Actually, the bubbles in the beer lines are covered up by the label, which is disappointing but it still looks amazing. These dies are from the Let's Dance die set and I think you can see how it might be fun to mix and match these elements with I Dance.

Again, I used the same colours as the first card, minus Gumdrop but as I look at it now, I could've used it in the beer label since there's so much white on this design. To create the background, I heat foiled the Diagonal Glimmer Stripes on Robin's Egg cardstock, the dry embossed a 4" x 5.25" white linen cardstock panel using the Sun Rays embossing folder. This folder isn't sold at Ellen Hutson but you can get a similar effect by dry embossing with the Radiant Background Stencil.

I hope you enjoyed this inspiration post using new Spellbinders products, now available at Ellen Hutson! I hope to be back soon with more inspiration for these products. Please tag me if you create with these particular sets. I'd love to see what you make.

Ellen Hutson | Card Inspiration feat. Mother's Day Hot Foil Bundle (Limited Time Special Offer)

Hello, crafty friends! Even though I don't make a lot of birthday-specific cards, I've been making a lot of birthday cards lately and today's card uses several Essentials by Ellen products that are part of the Mother's Day Hot Foil Bundle. If you've been thinking about diving into hot foiling, now's the perfect time!

I used the Gemini Foilpress and Rose Gold Hot Foil with the Tiny Stars Background to create the starry background for the card base. I also used the Rose Gold Hot Foil with the Happy Birthday Hot Foil Stamp to create the main sentiment.

I used the coordinating die from Big Scripty Happy Birthday to die cut the hot foiled sentiment and a second shadow layer from black glitter cardstock. Be sure to add this die to your cart if you want the coordinating outline die.

To add colour to the card, I cut three strips of Bazzill cardstock in Robin's Egg, Candy Necklace and Jawbreaker, then added texture using the A2 Piercing Plate 2. I trimmed it down and stamped the secondary sentiment from the exclusive HB2U Stamp Set.

At this point, I started assembling the card by using a corner chomper on the top left and bottom right corners, glueing Robin's Egg and Jawbreaker on the card base before adhering the hot foiled Tiny Stars Background. To finish, I added Essential Stars die cut from black glitterRobin's EggCandy Necklace and Jawbreaker cardstock.

Taylored Expressions | Mother's Day Cards + Sale!

I recently acquired the Flower Patch Background and Flower Patch Layering Stencil. I still had the colours I used in THIS video stuck in my head, plus I had all those extra Get the Word Out - Mother's Day sentiments on my desk, so I decided to create with them. As it so happens, all of these products are currently 20% off during this weekend's Mother's Day Sale. These products are gorgeous and work for so many occasions, not just Mother's Day, so be sure to grab 'em at a discount!

For both my backgrounds, I stamped the Flower Patch Background with Oreo ink. Using the Flower Patch Layering Stencil, this first card uses Lavender Glaze, Spearmint and Potato Chip inks. The Potato Chip was contaminated because I didn't clean the stencil well enough so there was still some Spearmint on it. The colour of the buds ended up looking like a slightly dull version of Lime Zest but it's still pretty.

I cut the panel down to 4" x 5.25" and used the Diagonal Stitched Rectangle Stacklets to add texture. Then I set it aside while I created the sentiment using On the Block - Mom and Mini Strips - You're the Best

I flipped the word MOM upside down to use it as the word WOW to show versatility and you can see another example of that in THIS video. I created an ombre look using Lavender GlazePlum Punch and Eggplant ink. The secondary sentiment was heat embossed in gold on Oreo cardstock and die cut it using the Mini Strips - Asymmetrical Die.

For my second card, the Flower Patch Background was stamped with Oreo ink and I used the Flower Patch Layering Stencil with Lollip, Lime Zest and Spearmint inks. I cut this panel down to 4" x 5.5" and attached it to a white linen panel, flushed to the right edge.

I stamped the Get the Word Out - Mother's Day sentiment using Eggplant ink on Sugar Cube cardstock and created a shadow from Eggplant cardstock.

I cut the Open Scallop Circle from gold glitter cardstock and two Stitched Circle Stacklets from vellum cardstock, sandwiching the scalloped die cut. You can see more inspiration using these dies in THIS video.

I kept this card relatively flat, using only liquid glue and mini glue dots to give the layers just a tiny bit of dimension, which was needed to give the vellum layers visual interest.

Be sure to check out the Mother's Day Sale which ends today at 11:59pm CDT.

VIDEO | Taylored Expressions | Grad, Congrats & Retirement Card Ideas

The Grad Release from Taylored Expressions is filled with fabulous products perfect for graduation, congratulations and retirement style cards. My newest video features three cards highlighting the Shout Out-You Did It Layering Stencil and Shout Out-You Did It Die.

I created three different looks for a large sentiment that is the primarily focus of the card. Two of the cards use the Shout Out-You Did It Die with two very different designs and the third card features the Shout Out-You Did It Layering Stencil.

Before creating the first two cards, I used the new Little Bits-Grad Cap Die, Gathered Stars Die and the recently retired Build an Emoji Dies to create the two emoji faces. For my first card, I cut the Shout Out-You Did It Die straight on the panel, placed the emoji over the letter O to gauge the framing of the Stitched Rectangle

I used the Easy Strips 1/4" Die to cut strips from Watermelon, Lemon Meringue, Blue Raspberry and Plum Punch cardstock. I glued the strips across the card base, leaving two corners white for visual interest.

Then I popped up the die cut panel and emoji with foam tape. To finish, I embellished the panel with three additional stars die cut from the Gathered Stars Die.

My second card features a Blue Raspberry card base, texturized with the Diamonds Piercing Plate. I cut the Shout Out-You Did It Die on a 5.5" x 8.5" sheet of Sugar Cube cardstock, using the placement of the emoji before gauging the position of the Stitched Rectangle.

On a second panel cut from the same Stitched Rectangle, I used a bitty blender brush to ink blend ombre sections behind each word using Sea Salt, Earl Grey and Poppy Seed inks. Then I double-stamped the sentiment from Class of 2022 on both layers.

After assembling the card, I added Gathered Stars die cut from from WatermelonLemon MeringueBlue Raspberry and Plum Punch cardstock. The two clusters of stars create a trifecta that balances with the emoji.

My third and final card uses the Shout Out-You Did It Layering Stencil. I ink blended the letters on the first layer using bitty blender brushes and Watermelon, Lemon Meringue, Blue Raspberry and Plum Punch inks. Then I used the Poppy Seed ink to create the shadow with the second layer.

I created the frame using the Frame in Frame 2 Die cut from both gold glitter and Oreo cardstock to create a shadow that mimics the stencilled sentiment. The additional sentiments were gold embossed on Oreo cardstock using the Mini Strips - Grad stamp set and cut with the Mini Strips Die.

Pigment Craft | Happy Easter Hugs

Happy Easter! Hooray for a long weekend filled with family gatherings, good meals and chocolate! I couldn't resist using some of the extra eggs and hearts lying in my stash to create this Easter card. You can see other inspiration using these products HERE and HERE

This time, I wanted to use the Happy Easter stamp set and coordinating Happy Easter Dies for the big sentiment. I love the way the Happy word has so many layering options.

You know I'm a huge fan of mixed font sentiments so the scripted Easter word makes me so happy. I stamped these in Balsam, Turmeric and Tajine. I layered gold glitter cardstock behind the Happy letters and Easter word die. I stamped the tiny Hugs word directly on the Dashed Diamonds Cover Plate.

The previously stamped eggs from the Eggcellent stamp set were stamped with Aloe, Blush, Turmeric, Tajine and Fir. The previously stamped hearts from the Printed Hearts stamp set were stamped in BlushTajine and Fir.

I glued the Dashed Diamonds Cover Plate panel directly on the white linen card base. Then I added foam tape to the backs of all the elements, except the Tajine heart, which was attached with glue dots.

I placed the eggs first, then arranged the two large sentiments before stamping the Hugs word directly on to the die cut panel. The last step was to add the hearts.

I hope you enjoy your long weekend. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Spellbinders | April 2022 Small Die of the Month + Spring BOGO Party

Hello, friends! It's been a while since I've done a Spellbinders post but I'm back to feature the adorable April 2022 Die of the Month called Gift Border & Sentiments. Unfortunately, my package was missing the piece that cuts out the base of the die so I featured it as best as I could considering that piece would've given me the ability to cut out the entire background.

I cut the white and black panels using the Mini Slimline Envelope & Nested Card Creator, previously the July 2021 Large Die of the Month and you can see more inspiration HERE. I used the two main pieces to cut out the gifts and top border directly on the scalloped white panel. I cut the individual gifts out of each of the 10 colours from the Assorted Color Essentials Cardstock Pack, then inserted them into the positive spaces.

I cut all 6 different bows from Mirror Gold Cardstock and glued them on to each of the gifts. To finish, I heat foiled a sentiment from Mini Sincere Sentiments using Gold Hot Foil on black cardstock and popped it up on a foam strip. The finished card base measures 3.5" x 6.5".

I invite you to check out the Spring BOGO Party. This Buy One, Get One sale includes so many great products, quite a few of my favourites and runs through 11:59pm PST on April 10th, 2022.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
