When we were living in San Diego, I met someone who kept birds as pets. Until that time, I'd never met anyone who had a bird as a pet. Of course, birds are everywhere every day but I never really paid much attention to them until I got see them up close. For example, I had a toucan sit on my arm in Costa Rica and you'd never believe how light they are considering their size! With a beak that size, I guess they'd never be able to fly if they weren't light. Since I entered the craft blogosphere and started working with avian images and seeing the beautiful work that everyone produces with them, I started admiring birds more and more! As you know, I have a panda obsession and keep a close eye on the PandaCam at the San Diego Zoo, especially when there's a new cub. Well, my friend Anna recently sent me a webcam link to watch an owl named Molly. Molly's four eggs will soon hatch into owlets! Based on the owl images I'm used to - mostly cartoons - I was a bit surprised to see what a real owl looked like. LOL It just goes to show that you can learn something new every day!
I made this card for Anna because she's going to be an aunt any day now. Today would've normally been a Pink Cat Studio digi release so I decided to use this cute Baby Owl digi to make a card for Anna. This card is also for this week's CAS78 Challenge to use polka dots. I hadn't used this particular digi or background image from Background Basics: Retro so you're seeing two new things in my repertoire. I used a variety of words and letters from three other PTI sets to create the sentiment on the side. I blinged up the centres of the dots and, after colouring the owl with my Copics, popped it on with dimensionals. That's not an ink smudge at the bottom of the card, just dark fibres in the cardstock (which I'm going to continue calling kraft until I actually use the new crumb cake). Thanks for stopping by today to have a look!
P.S. I'm feeling much better today after having a really big vodka martini with three olives last night. I'm looking forward to another one this evening. ;) The other good news is that my father-in-law is recovering just fine from an infection. Thanks for all your well wishes!

Hello, darling and crafty one! Your post is killing me - you are so funny! I can imagine how odd it must have seemed after your experiences with birds! I've been REALLY thinking about how many bird images are SMOKING hot in paper crafting these days - it's amazing! But there's ALWAYS going to be something so pleasing and amazing about good old owls... AND then there's your use of this darling one! It's ADORABLE! What darling work! You are truly wonderful! I love birds, but they freak me right out if they come too close. Yikes. Give me bird stamps any day :)
