All Things Unity Challenge #41

I'm so excited to be a Guest Designer for All Things Unity this month! The first challenge for October starts today and it is to use a magazine or catalog for inspiration. The Elte & Ginger's Fall 2011 Catalog was delivered to my house on Friday so I flipped through it and the light bulbs hanging over the paintings on page 6 called out to me. I purchased the Ippity set Shine, Shine, Shine from Jenny Johns months ago and hadn't inked it up yet so this was the perfect opportunity to give it some love.

My card uses the moon and stars background from To the Moon & Back as framed pictures. The light bulbs and sentiment are from Shine, Shine, Shine. Instead of staggering the light bulbs and keeping the frames aligned, like in the catalog, I did the opposite. I also flipped one of the moon 'paintings' upside down. I stamped the moon and stars image on soft sand and cut out two of the stars for the light inside the bulbs.

I hope you will play along with the All Things Unity Challenge #41 for the next two weeks. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Oh, this is so totally cool! Love how the moons frame the lightbulbs and that the card makes "sense" even if you didn't see the inspiration piece and even though I never would have thought to pair moons and lightbulbs together. What a great sentiment, too.

Do you think they're going to start make curly CFL light bulb stamps now?

Emily, I love how you've explained your inspiration & creative process - and I love the sentiment.
It reminds me, though, of a mug my hubby has - 'Due to budget cuts, the light at the end of the tunnel has been extinguished until further notice.' lol
