4U

It's been quite the week leading up to this long weekend. I finally saw Twilight (twice) and also New Moon! Where have I been for the past two years? I don't really have an excuse except to say that I had a baby and have been very busy ever since. ;Þ I enjoyed both movies and it was about time I saw some new and fun vampire entertainment since I'm one of those original Buffy the Vampire Slayer fans... the TV show, that is, not the movie. I have the entire series on DVD!

On Friday, a friend and I went to my SU Demo's Open House where we got to see and play with some goodies from the new catalog. Personally, I wasn't that impressed with the new stamp sets (only three are going on my wish list) but I do love the new colour collections! I absolutely cannot wait to get my hands on Crumb Cake ink for one!!

Last night I finally got around to crafting again which made me so happy. :) All the images are from Papertrey Ink. Speaking of which, my latest order has been sitting in customs for a week now and that really makes me mad!! Ugh. Seriously. Why does it have to take so long? Insert eye roll here. ;)

I wanted to make a birthday card without a birthday sentiment so I came up with 4U, which really could be used for any occasion, and stamped on top of that with background dots. Yay, I finally used the dots again! This is only my second time using that set which is why I'm happy that it's becoming useful? LOL

The butterflies were made by overlaying a smaller image on top of a larger solid butterfly and popped with dimensionals. Then I stitched each of the textured scallops, stamped a small text background and attached everything with adhesive. I knew the vertical scalloped edge wouldn't line up when I punched it but I like the way it doubles up when the card is closed.

That's it for today! I hope all my friends and family in the U.S. are enjoying a great 4th of July holiday!!

STOP IT! You totally did NOT put polka dots onto the outline alphabet!! EEEK! Love it!!!

I agree, I'm not getting many stamp sets from the SU catalog, but am stocking up on some dies & embossing folders. And my mind started racing when I thought about kraft/crumb cake ink, too!

Another awesome card, Emily! Love the texty background and those stitched scallops!
Crumb cake ink is lovely -- just as useful as sahara sand, but nice and warm and krafty! I'm already hooked on all the new colors :)
Good luck with the customs thing -- too bad you don't live closer to the border (my Ontario friend sends most of her stuff to friends in the Detroit area).

My goodness I've been drooling over the new SU catalogue - but perhaps that's because ours (UK) doesn't come out until October so I'm having to be patient! I love your beautiful card - great colours, fabulous design.

Fabulous card Emily, I love the text background and the scallops down the edge. I'm one of the few people who still hasn't seen a Twilight film or read any of the books - hopefully soon!

JUST ADORABLE! LOVE it!! (=

Getting back to you on my necklace post: I just punched out small circles and you can use a sealer like Diamond Glaze or crystal effects to adhere the image. Once dry I seal the back also. Attach a necklace bail! Super easy!

This is a great card! I love the color combo, the scalloped edge and the stitching. I am a Buffy fan all the way back to the original movie. Thanks for stopping by Asleep on the Couch and leaving a comment. Hope you will visit again.

What a fabulous card, Emily! LOVE what you did with the "4U"... totally works with just about any occasion! Such cute polka dots!! I LOVE the Twilight series. I've read the books over 25 times each and have seen the first two movies a dozen times (or more). Just saw Eclipse in the theatre and it's awesome. I swore I wouldn't get into it when it first came out and became this craze but I can't stop getting enough of the series now. LOL!

Emily, this is brilliant! The simplest cards sometimes are the most awesome!

Gorgeous, I love the simplicity. And on Twilight, I've only just realised what I was missing. I watched the first two films and then had to know the rest of the story so I read through the last two books (apparently I sort of disappeared for 2 days!) Hev:)
