Today is Remembrance Day in Canada and Veteran's Day in the United States. A number of other Commonwealth countries are also honouring their fallen. Canada's military is known mostly for its peacekeeping role in the world today but it has a deep and rich history of heroism in many wars, most notably WWI and WWII. I still remember learning the famous poem In Flanders Fields in elementary school and absorbing so many of the war stories in high school where history was my favourite subject.
My card was inspired by this very moving Remembrance Day commercial as well as the poppies everyone dons right after Halloween to honour those who have fought for our country. I used the flower image from Unity's October KOTM and paired it with the top part of the sentiment that is the kit's namesake. I added Stickles to the three flowers that look particularly like poppies. Then I hand-wrote 'remember' with the broad end of my black Copic marker. Looking at this card after its completion I realized that it also looks like a headstone on grass. That is some powerful symbology and this is definitely one of my favourite one-layer cards ever.

I love your beautiful, iconic card.
Such a striking card!
Perfect. Layers would have only taken away from the power of this card. Nicely done. (I wasn't sure you could _make_ a Remembrance Day card till I saw this!)
Love the meaning behind your card, and the card itself.
