Recent RAKs

Do you love receiving cards from crafty friends? I sure do! You may recall me saying that a card is better than a gift because the card is the gift. In fact, I have an entire office drawer filled with handmade cards that I cherish. My closest friends have the need to apologize profusedly when they give me a gift without a card (even if it's *gasp* store-bought) because they know it disappoints me! ;) I was lucky to receive these wonderful cards recently and here they are in the order they were received.

This first card was from my husband last month when we celebrated our seventh wedding anniversary. You may recall the card with the cupcake tower from Take Two Week which is the card I gave to him. My husband used Pink Cat Studio's Raccoon Standing, the banner from DoodleFactory's Urban (I love it when he inks up something I haven't) and Papertrey Ink's Simple Alphabet. Every time he makes me a card, he wants my approval. These are some of the things he asked me when he gave it to me. "Do you like my shading? I think I'm getting better." "That oval is a spotlight." "I thought about masking the strings off the banner but I decided I didn't want to get that complicated." "Do you know what it means? You're the bandit who stole my heart." LOL He makes me laugh!!

The next card is from Meg and I can't say enough wonderful things about her so I'm going to move on instead of getting all corny. ;) Meg included an Amuse Studio catalog with her card. I haven't tried Amuse stamps yet but Meg might have just enabled me with her package. You can read all about Meg's gorgeous card here. I did have some fun with my son while looking through the catalog.

We recently bought this table and cute chairs from Ikea and he really loves it. We sat together and he coloured while I flipped through the catalog. Then he wanted to know what was in my new 'book'. When we got to page 14, he asked me to draw the bunnies so I did. He will ask me to use certain colours and tell me where to draw the images. He'll say, "Draw zat one now right here." Then he draws around them and all over the rest of the page. Lately, he's been drawing frames around my drawings which he calls 'mirrors'. So cute. Looking at the photo of our shared artwork (click to see larger), I'm sure you can tell that I have a lot of fun with him!

Next up is a card that came all the way from the Netherlands! You can read all about Wendy's gorgeous card here. I never asked Wendy how she found my blog but I'm so grateful that she did because she is so super sweet and supportive. We share an addiction to all things Hero Arts, Unity and Papertrey Ink. And bicycles!! That is a lot to talk about. LOL Wendy knows that I've been coveting Waltzingmouse Stamps for some time now and do you see what is underneath her card? Ooh la la. It's Vintage Labels 18!!! It's so beautiful and I can't believe I have my first Waltzingmouse set. In fact, I have it sitting in front of me at the computer so I can admire it. Don't worry, Wendy, I will open it and use it. ;D Thank you so much for your generosity and kindness always!

Are you still with me? What you see above is another one of my second blogoversary giveaways! This giveaway includes Bella BLVD's Blooms a Bella Bianca and Cosmo Cricket's Honey Pie rub-ons. One lucky winner from all the comments left on my blog in April will win both of these embellishment packs! Good luck to you all, and thank you for enjoying these wonderful gifts with me. :)

Hi Emily!

We share another love! Receiving cards from friends! Also my friends know to give me a card with the present, or write something in (if it's a book or something - usually I receive books from my friends, that's another love, ha ha)! I always love the personal touch! I don't mind bought cards, 'cause they always pick out such beauties for me, that can inspire me for new cards! Thank you for your sweet story about my RAK and me! You are so sweet! How I found your blog? I remember seeing a card from you with a challenge and then checking out your blog and never want to loose the link again, hi hi, but I'm sorry, I can't remember which challenge that was... Love your hubby's card, he's truly creative as well! Would love if Pim would make a card for me, he used to write me stories and even made a song (he played piano) for me, but lately he's only creative on the computer... too bad! who knows, one day, I know he has it in him! I loved Meg's card as well, that sentiment (from Waltzing Mouse! ;-) is gorgeous and the flower background sooo pretty!
Wishing you a lovely Sunday!
Hugs, Wendy
