You Are My Sunshine

Happy Canada Day to all my Canadian friends and family at home and abroad! This is a photo I took on Friday while we were on the ferry heading over to the islands. It was so hot and has been for quite a few days. I hope you're all staying cool and enjoying the weekend!

I'm sharing a card made with lots of Hero Arts stamps. Thinking of the heat made me use this sentiment which is from the new Hero Arts/Studio Calico release Heyday Sentiments. I combined it several dies and sticky-back canvas to create this sunshine-y card. Here's how I did it:

First, I took a piece of sticky-back canvas and randomly stamp-layered the Etched Flowers and Dictionary Greeting.

Then I used my paper trimmer to cut one-inch strips. I removed the backing to reveal the adhesive and started pleating it around a circular die cut which is slightly smaller than the piece that fits over top of the canvas rays.

After I formed enough pleats, I took a piece of facial tissue and rubbed it against the back so that the pleats wouldn't stick to the card base and go flat. After I assembled the sun, I adhered the sentiment panel, some Copic-coloured pearls and rounded the corners to finish.

Thanks for stopping by today! I will have a very special post for you tomorrow. :)

Happy Canada day, Emily! Your pic makes me smile: I have similar shots from when my guy and I have visited Toronto and took the boat trip (twice!). We love Toronto and call it our second home! Such a wonderful city!
Your card is wonderful too of course! ;D
