LEGO Birthday Party: Year Two

It's been a month since my son turned five so it's high time I posted this project! We also had a LEGO-themed party last year and you can see what we did THEN. This year, we had a real theme, which was a police theme. One of my son's favourite characters is Chase McCain, Police Detective. My son calls him the night policeman 'cause all his stories and scenes seem to be at night. Haha. That's who he wants to be for Halloween, too. He owns both the books (here and here) and received the High Speed Chase set as one of his many LEGO gifts.

Naturally, I made him a police car card. ;) I liked the original colours shown on the Silhouette America cut file so I copied it exactly.

Next, I went to the awesome Pick a Brick section at the LEGO Shop and asked my son to customize male and female cops for his loot bags. He had so much fun doing this and, of course, I did, too. This is my favourite place to shop in the LEGO Shop! All of the pieces arrive in a bag and we sort them.

Then I took the badge from the police hat cut file and cut both bright gold glitter badges and plain white badges to customize the loot bags for the party-goers.

I stamped everyone's names on a white strip, which I trimmed from the white badges, using Papertrey Ink's Simple Alphabet stamp set.

I thought it would be fun to use Papertrey Ink's Essential Pillow Box Die as containers for the LEGO policeman and policewoman pieces. When the kids opened their boxes, this is what they saw.

And this is what the girls and boys got, respectively, when they assembled their mini-figures. Yup, my son chose the princess hair for the girl cops. How adorable is that? :D

I love these kinds of projects and I'm already looking forward to next year's party! My son recently asked me if he could have a Halloween party. Hmmm...

This is really incredible, Em... awesome ideas. The only thing I'll mention about a potential Halloween party? Sugar-high kids. ;)

Ahhh! Adorable party ideas. And that link to Brick Link is killing me. I'm trying to talk myself out of hitting the purchase button, because how much do we really need a LEGO banana?

What an awesome birthday theme, Emily!!! So clever and creative! I especially love those loot boxes---the Lego police people make the perfect loot and I think it's fantastic how you personalized each box with each kiddo's name!
