{Neat & Tangled} January Release Week: Day 4

Hi, everyone! It's Day 4 of Neat & Tangled's January Release and, today, the design team is featuring the Paper Cut Flowers stamp set and Birthday Tags Dies. I combined both of these products on my card, which was inspired by this stunning card that Jocelyn Olson made last term.

I love how she cut away part of the panel to create a basin for the vellum water. Mine was done in the reverse since I cut away from the card base but it's the same design idea and I really love how it draws the eye across and down the card to the main elements.

I heat embossed the Paper Cut Flowers and leaves on vellum and trimmed them. Then I arranged them around the layered Birthday Tags Dies. The ombre patterned paper is from Kelly Purkey's Second City 6x6 paper pad.

There's a GIVEAWAY! Be sure to leave a comment on the Neat & Tangled Blog for your chance to win the Paper Cut Flowers stamp set!

All release products will be available for purchase on Friday and I'll be updating my links at that time. See you tomorrow!

{Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge} Happy Birthday!!!

Welcome to the first Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge in April! This week's challenge is Happy Birthday and the design team is featuring Simon Exclusives to celebrate Simon's 5th Birthday! You don't have to use Simon Exclusives but we'd love to see some if you have them!

I used a ton of Simon Exclusives on my card, starting with the white woodgrain base. Then I used Kelly Purkey's Make a Wish stamp set to stamp and heat emboss a numbered background on Tim Holtz distress watercolour cardstock. I used daubers and distress inks on the Mosaic Heart stencil in the centre of the card. I misted it to let the colours run and dried the panel with a heat tool. Immediately following that, I sponged brighter colours on the top and bottom edges of the panel, then repeated the misting and drying process.

After adhering the watercoloured panel to the card base, I die cut three branches from the Layered Tree dies for candlesticks and hearts from the Large Holiday Shapes dies for flames. I used Simon's cardstock in Sunshine, Orange Peel and Audrey Blue. Finally, I heat embossed the 'happy birthday' banner in silver and adhered it across the candles.

This week's prizes:

One winner will be chosen at random to win a $100 gift voucher to the awesome Simon Says Stamp Store and two other winners will receive a Simon Exclusive Stamp + Die Set!

It could be you!

I hope you will play along with us this week!

Thanks for stopping by today! Have a wonderful Wednesday. :)
