Music Saves My Soul Saturday {Please Don't Stop the Rain}

I missed Marcea's Music Saves My Soul Saturday last week and I felt the need to share another hot British talent with you today. ;) I just love James Morrison's voice and "Please Don't Stop the Rain" is my favourite song from his album Songs for You, Truths for Me. He wrote this song with none other than Ryan Tedder of One Republic. It is just amazing. You can also watch the video version here. Some of you may be familiar with "Broken Strings", James Morrison's duet with Canadian Nelly Furtado which is another one of my favourite songs from the same album. I also love this video for "You Give Me Something" which is super cute and reminds me of my Jump Rope for Heart days in high school when we had teams that jumped for 24 hours to raise money for the Heart & Stroke Foundation. Enjoy!

Music Saves My Soul Saturday {Kitty Jay}

I know, I'm really late with this post! It was a super busy day and I had the hardest time choosing a song. There are just too many artists and songs I want to share with you but I guess I have to start somewhere, right?

Today, I'm sharing a performance by Seth Lakeman whose talent will blow your mind!! My husband and I saw him live when he opened for Billy Bragg here in Toronto in 2006. The audience was completely silent and stunned. You'll see why after you watch this:

Isn't it amazing the way he fiddles, uses a stomp box and sings all at the same time?! He also plays a mean tenor guitar! Now that is talent. Oh, and the fact that he's hot doesn't hurt either. ;Þ Ever since we saw him, we've been buying his albums. You can read more about the meaning behind this particular song here.

I love discovering new artists and I hope you can find the time to share your favourite music via Marcea's post here! :)

Music Saves My Soul Saturday {Good Life}

I've been meaning to participate for a while now after seeing Music Saves My Soul Saturday posts on Janna's and Karin's blogs for months. Music has always been a big part of my life after studying piano and violin for 11 years and accolades too many to count including awards from the prestigious Kiwanis Music Festival and performances at Massey Hall. Yes, I have a Tiger Mother but I enjoyed my lessons and practices while my sister did not!

Last month, One Republic released their new video for "Good Life" which is one of my two favourite songs on their album Waking Up. The other one is "Secrets". The lyrics of Good Life are about being in London. Did I ever mention that I got engaged in London? In April and May 2003, we were in Glasgow, Scotland, for my sister's wedding and afterwards we vacationed in London. It was my second time in England. The proposal took place at an Italian restaurant in Soho called La Perla which is not too far from Piccadilly Circus. :) In fact, after my husband finished his contract in Italy in 2002, we almost moved to England when he was offered a job there. Maybe someday. I could totally see myself living in London. Then again, there are a lot of places I would love to live!
