Music Saves My Soul Saturday {Good Life}

I've been meaning to participate for a while now after seeing Music Saves My Soul Saturday posts on Janna's and Karin's blogs for months. Music has always been a big part of my life after studying piano and violin for 11 years and accolades too many to count including awards from the prestigious Kiwanis Music Festival and performances at Massey Hall. Yes, I have a Tiger Mother but I enjoyed my lessons and practices while my sister did not!

Last month, One Republic released their new video for "Good Life" which is one of my two favourite songs on their album Waking Up. The other one is "Secrets". The lyrics of Good Life are about being in London. Did I ever mention that I got engaged in London? In April and May 2003, we were in Glasgow, Scotland, for my sister's wedding and afterwards we vacationed in London. It was my second time in England. The proposal took place at an Italian restaurant in Soho called La Perla which is not too far from Piccadilly Circus. :) In fact, after my husband finished his contract in Italy in 2002, we almost moved to England when he was offered a job there. Maybe someday. I could totally see myself living in London. Then again, there are a lot of places I would love to live!

Unity FWF Blog Hop {Mar 4th}

My blog was a little quieter than usual this week because I lost my mojo but also because I really was trying to have a little more me time which didn't quite work out. I ended up not having the energy to do much of anything but I forced myself to play with some Unity for today's blog hop! I made this card using the presentation lady from Domestic Bliss and the frame from The Best is Yet To Be. The sentiment was pieced from To the Moon & Back and Take Time To Laugh.

I'm entering this card in the Play Date Cafe Challenge #71 which is to use black and white with a limited splash of colour, any colour. To get the lady's red lips, I inked the entire image in red and then used my Memento dew drop to blacken everything but the lips. I guess Stampin' Write Markers might come in handy, eh? :) The frame comes with bows which I embellished with charcoal baker's twine from The Twinery.

Thank you for stopping by! Your next stop is Kate, who is also this week's Growing In Unity Gal!

Pink Cat Studio ~ Mar 3rd Digi Release + Guest Designer Opportunity!

Welcome to Pink Cat Studio's Forest Animals release! These cute little critters will come in handy on their own or as companions to the gnomes that were released last week. I made a set of note cards that feature one of each type of animal. There are a lot of grouped photos in this post but, as always, you can click on any photo to see the full-size version.

The tree you see in the background of all the cards is Pretty Birds in a Tree from the Dots & Delights Collection which was released last June. I hadn't used that digi and I thought it would be a great pairing with these animals.

The sentiments are from a Unity set called Dutch Mustard Soup and the baker's twine is from The Twinery. To create the colourful twine forest floor (berries, moss and such), I taped a piece of Scor-Tape to the bottom of the white mat and twisted two colours of twine together as I laid it across. Once I was finished adding rows of twine, I trimmed the excess off the edges before adhering those mats to their respective mats on the card base.

Which is your favourite? I have a soft spot for that little hedgehog!

Thanks for stopping by today! Please join us again next Thursday for a St. Patrick's Day release!! In case you missed it, Melissa is having a guest designer call for next week's digi release. You can find all the details HERE or by clicking on the gnomey leprechuan above. If you apply or have applied, I wish you the best of luck! :D
