You Make Me Smile

To make this card, I stamped the chicken wire frame in black and then repeated it in soft sand to create a background. After determining placement of the tag and ladybug, I stamped them on the card base and adhered the paper pieced versions with foam tape. I fussy cut a couple of the solid leaves and tucked them behind the tag. To finish, I stamped the word 'smile' from Borders and Sentiments three times leading into the main sentiment on the tag. Don't you just love that ladybug with the nerdy glasses? This was my son's reaction, "Mommy, that ladybug is really, really, really cute!" ;)

Stuff and a Card

It's my husband's birthday today and we've been celebrating all day. We spent the day downtown, shopping and revisiting all the places we've missed since we moved out of our condo. Then we had lunch at La Bettola, an Italian restaurant. It was delicious! When we got home, I went to pick up his cake and tonight we'll eat in. Tomorrow, we're heading to my parents' house for a monstrous meal my mom is going to whip up for him (us). ;) We had taken the day off yesterday to visit the Royal Ontario Museum so I'm exhausted. Between the two days, I've probably walked enough for the entire week. LOL I'm sitting down for a few minutes just to say hi before starting on dinner.

I know my blog's been very quiet but next week will be super busy with a big release from Lil' Inker Designs and more! This is a wedding card that a friend ordered a while back. Surprisingly, I just had another friend order something very similar so I'll be making a variation of this since the black needs to be changed to chocolate. I will probably change the flourish to leaves and add a few more shades of green.

Kim is sharing this card on the Paper Smooches Blog today. It features the newly-released Circle of Honor stamp set that is perfect for the troops, teachers, parents and even the Independence Day and Canada Day holidays! The wonderful eagle made this card quick and easy to throw together. The layered label dies are cut from sticky-back canvas, camouflage felt and cardstock. To create the edges of the card, I used the same ink that I sponged around the eagle and dragged the ink pad along the edges. I love this technique because it creates the look of paint and you don't have to be too accurate or careful.
