dad, you mean the world to me.

I made this card yesterday but it was pouring buckets for most of the day and I couldn't get a decent photo. I don't like to wait to show you what I've made but in this case I had to. The days are insanely busy and even though I was willing to post dark photos, I couldn't find the time to download them and blog!

My father-in-law has been in the hospital since last weekend. Early in the week, we were scared we were going to lose him but thankfully he's starting to improve a little. I needed to make a Get Well card for my husband to send to his dad and I didn't feel like making a typical one so I decided to play with some of my new arrivals from Papertrey Ink. First, I used the Woodgrain Impression Plate on kraft. Boy, do I ever love it! Then I die cut and embossed the window using the Mat Stack 1 die. Love that, too! For the images and sentiment, I inked up Masculine Motifs. A tiny problem arose: I needed a comma. I'm a stickler for grammar, spelling and punctuation so I used a comma from Birthday Basics. ;)

I hope you're all having a really nice weekend so far. After all that rain yesterday, we finally have relief from the ridiculous heat wave this past week. Is anyone else drooling over the sneak peeks at Papertrey Ink? What are you eyeing for your next order? :)

Most importantly, I'm sorry to hear about your father-in-law being in the hospital for so long. I'm glad he's turned the corner and I hope his health continues to improve.

I know this fantastic card will be sure to raise his spirits! I love the gold and kraft together, and that die cut window looks great.

PTI: I don't want to want anything from this release, but so far the bingo card, ticket die cut, and reading set have all caught my eye! And that's just day one!

Emily, I'm so glad your father-in-law is doing better. Hospital time is scary time -- My thoughts are with your family.

The card is awesome! I know what you mean about the comma thing; I actually stopped ordering from a stamp company once because they misquoted something on one of their stamps. The perils of being an English instructor, I guess.

As for Papertrey, I like everything I've seen so far. Now the the official previews have begun, I'm sure my list will grow! Did you see Betsy's projects with the ticket set? Amazing.
