This card combines a couple of challenges: the Embellish Decorative Trim Color Trends Challenge and the Hero Arts April Contest. I've had this Hero Arts background, A Village, for a few months now and really needed to use it. I think I'll be sending this card to friends of ours who recently moved from Toronto to Milano, Italia. A Village reminds me of Italy and that's why I bought it! I just got some new star dies that were perfect for one of the Hero Arts April Contest sketches but I had to use the sketch vertically as opposed to horizontally to fit the stamp so I hope that's okay. As for the colours, I interpreted the middle colour as yellow even though it has a hint of green in it. I thought the sentiment looked better on an angle, too. I know this isn't the style of card you usually see on my blog but it was fun to try something new and different.
I'm celebrating my second blogoversary this month with quite a few giveaways! Be sure to keep an eye on my blog for further details. All comments this month will give you a chance to win so be sure to comment on every post! You would anyway, right? ;) In the meantime, here's one of my giveaways to get you excited: three pretty little spools of American Crafts ribbon.

I gasped when I saw that gorgeous big star! I want! I want! LOL! That die has just rocketed to the top of my wish list. :)
I love the angle of the sentiment - makes it look like a shooting star - and that little bit of lacey ribbon peeking out is a perfect touch. Your friend is going to love this card!
Ooh, I love the village bg -- especially paired with all those goodies -- the felt star, subtle trim, the stitching, the way you spotlighted "you" in the sentiment -- perfection.
I was going to ask you where you got the background paper! Love that stamp...and your card is a great take on the sketch... I gotta see if I have Hero Arts in my stash!

Two years of Art from the Heart -- congratulations! I really like this card, although I had to look twice to find the twine/crochet ribbon embellishment! It's subtle but adds its effect to the overall impact of the card. Yes, that village background is awesome.
Beautiful card, Emily! Love the green houses and love how you highlighted "you" with a white cardstock!

Love the give-away, too - CONGRATS on the start of year two! {How is it that THESE years are passing SOOO quickly!?!} You are quite the enabler: I thought that background was D/P - NOT a stamp! Gosh, that's gorgeous! ABSOLUTELY brilliant card, my dear! MEOW!
Have we known each other for a year already! Time flies!!
I love this card, too. I love houses. It's on my shopping list.
Hi Emily!
What a beauty of a card! Yes, could be an Italian village, built up the hill! Awesome stamp! And I as well, just received the star dies from Papertrey! Already looking so much forward to using it, love the big star! I think this card is really pretty!! I love your "cute-and-simple" cards as well, but with stamps like this, they appeal to me even more!
Hugs, Wendy
