Jane's Doodles {You're the Best}

Happy Friday! It's my day to post on the Jane's Doodles Blog. I was up very late last night feeling exceptionally tired and having a beer. Well, I nearly gave myself a concussion making this card late last night - er, very early this morning - and you are going to laugh so hard when you read this story. I have a built-in desk with overhead shelves in my new house. Normally, I stand on my background stamps on the floor, on a magazine, to get a really good impression. Well, for some reason, I decided to press this one on the desk and when I threw my weight on the stamp, my head was propelled into the overhead shelves. I heard quite the nasty crack. Then I got scared when I touched my hand to my head 'cause there was a deep indentation and I ran to look in the mirror. I quickly got some ice and nearly froze my eyeballs while finishing this card. There's nothing like giving yourself a nasty bruise and a near-concussion while crafting! Lesson learned? Just stand on the stamp. Oh, and maybe stick to wine while crafting instead of beer. LOL

I used three Jane's Doodles sets to make this fun card! The large sentiment is from the wonderfully whimsical set, Big Sentiments, that was just released last week. The banners are from Party Time, also released last week, and the smaller sentiment which I stamped inside the banners, is from Little Miss Mia. The Envelope Pattern on the grey strip is, of course, Hero Arts.

It's not often that I use both a colour inspiration challenge and a sketch but that's what ended up happening here. I used the colourQ challenge #102 as well as Moxie Fab World's Vertical Sketch Challenge after I saw Emily Keaton's sweet submission to my Moving Challenge using the same colours and sketch. Thank you for the spark, Emily! I think my mojo might finally be returning, despite the hit on the head. :Þ The words on this card are for all of you who have left encouraging comments and emails! Thank you so, so much for the smiles and laughter. ;)

Emily...you are too funny. I hope your head is ok. Beer will do that to you... but I must say this card is amazing so I think it all worked out...

Wow you had a crazy morning. I hope it doesn't leave a bruise or permanent indention. But I do love this card along with images and sentiments. Great job!

I think that crack to the noggin might have restarted your mojo -- this rocks! I also love that color combo and might have to give it a try. Love that sentiment!

Awwww, shucks. :) So glad I was able to give you a little shove in the right direction! (But I *swear* it was not responsible for head mishap!) This is sweetly CAS, and your little pennants are perfect for the sketch. So glad that your mojo seems to be returning--just no more near concussions, 'K??

Ow! I thought we papercrafters just had to worry about x-acto blade slices and scissors pokes! Glad you weren't hurt worse. At least you ended up with a sweet CAS card for your pain. :P

EMILY! Don't drink & craft! I learned the 'funny' way that I can't colour & drink, but I can crochet. Good to know ;)
I hope there's no permanent damage! You know, maybe the bonk on the head jolted your mojo out of hiding? Stranger things have happened, right? I think the different sized gems are just the right funky touch to go with the different shaped banner pieces...and the colours POP.

The card is awesome as always...but the one thing that grabbed my attention was - you stand on your stamps to get an impression? really? does anyone actually do that?
wow!! please take care of yourself!

Oww! so glad you are okay! I walked into an open bathroom door at home this morning...wish I had an excuse like trying to stamp. I was just in my own little world!

So happy you're creating! I'm sure it is a huge adjustment being in a new home! Your card today is wonderful. And a big congrats on your win on Paper Smooches!

What a cute card Emily, I love the doodled banner flags together :)
Ouch...it's amazing what knocks our heads can take, I have done this a few times in my life...usually a good bought of shouting at the offending object helps:)
So pleased to see you were picked by Kim for Oct GDT.

This is a beauty - I love the little banner with the jewels! Maybe a bop over the head is just the thing to kickstart your mojo Emily but I think I might give it a miss!

Maybe hitting your head knocked the mojo back into you (kind of like that Gilligan's Island episode where Gilligan gets hit on the head and when he opens his mouth, he's a radio). Okay, maybe not like that. I'm sorry you were hurt! Maybe you should get a stamp press for your bg stamps ;) But, the results are WOW-worthy! Love the colors!! Love the take on the sketch!

I can't believe you stand on your stamps!!! I'd flatten mine to a pancake if I did that! Ha. I can't tell you how much I LOVE this card. It is just pure perfection.

Oh no! Hope you are ok now! That sounded like it was really painful! Such a sweet little card, I love the tiny banners!

Maybe the bonk helped your mojo along!! Although from what I've seen I don't think you really lost it. Maybe just a disconnect between what you see and what was reality!! ;)

Fabulous card! I love those little banners.
And CONGRATULATIONS on being the next Paper Smooches designer!! YAY!!

Ouch! My head hurts just hearing about your stamping injury! I hope you were OK'd by a doctor before returning to the stamping field. :)

At least it was well worth it...that envelope pattern really adds the perfect accent!

Perhaps you should stick to water while crafting! LOL! Hope your head is feeling better and maybe you need to pad the edge of that shelf... :)

Love your little banners and how they are curled up and look like they're waving in the wind. And the envelope pattern looks awesome in white on grey!

Sorry about your head, Emily! I never heard of standing on the stamps. Hope you are OK! Cute card, hope it was worth the headache, but I don't think the beer hurt, maybe the late hour. Thanks for joining us at the ColourQ this week.

I love the simplicity of your card! Ouch on the near concussion! Oh the damage we do to ourselves in the name of crafting! Hope there is no permanent mark on your head! And I'm with you on the wine - it's perfect (with a little chocolate) for scrapbooking!

What a cool & unique CAS card! And lol at your post - your poor head. I've never stood on a stamp - maybe I should, lol.

LeAnne said...

Good heavens, girl! No injuries while stamping, please! Did you ever ink your stamp rubber-side up, lay the cardstock on top, cover with some light scrap paper and then rub it with a plastic ruler or bone folder? MUCH safer and excellent results. I must say, this is an adorable CAS card, too! Thanks for playing with the CQC!

Simply wonderful! The card, not the head injury!!! You are one silly girl :>)
