Be Happy

My mom and I rarely agree but she was right when she told me that despite my recent loss I have many reasons to be happy. I made this card to remind myself that I have a lot to be thankful for. I used four Hero Arts stamps: Pom Pom Flower, Single Starburst, Newspaper Skyline and Be Happy. The five colours are from the Hero Arts May Contest Color Challenge. When I first spied the Pom Pom Flower and Single Starburst in the 2012 Catalog, I wondered if they might work together for times when I didn't feel like colouring the flower. It turns out it works perfectly and brings more versatility to both the stamps. Using five colours on a clean and simple card turned out to be rather difficult. I tried two different combinations before I came up with this one. In the first two versions, the flower was too light and the background too dark. It was fun to play around with the scene. Fitting in the fifth colour was the trickiest part but I finally came up with the idea of halving the sentiment. This will be another one of my entries for Gallery Idol 2012.

Remember to get lots of snuggles from the men in your world, they'll help you remember to be happy. Beautiful card, love the use of different elements.

This is beautiful. Though you do have things to be thankful for, it is still very appropriate to mourn your loss. Don't let anyone deny your sadness. :(

I second what Jen said - yes, you do have lots to be happy for, but that doesn't mean you can't grieve. I'm so glad that creating is helping you. I know that it helps me!

Even before I read your description, I thought, well isn't that a brilliant colouring shortcut! I would have trouble with that many colours, but you pulled it off perfectly! And perfectly masked, too.

I agree, Emily. We all have so many things to be thankful for. I know I for one can tend to forget that at times. Thanks for the reminder :)
