{Hero Arts} 'Tis the Season to be Jolly

I made a quick card for the Hero Arts Holiday Challenge that runs from October 13th through December 1st. There are three creative options for this challenge and I chose the last one:
  • Deck the Cards – ‘Tis the season for decking the halls…and of course the cards, too! Use at least one Hero Arts embellishment to deck-out your holiday card. A few options include metallic decor, gems, pearls, and felt embellishments.
  • Merry and Bright – Brighten up your holidays with NEON! Use any Hero Arts neon ink or neon dauber on your project.
  • A Few of My Favorite Things – Create any Christmas/Holiday/Winter card with a favorite stamping technique plus a Hero Arts holiday stamp.

On this card, I used the watercolour resist emboss technique. When I said quick, I really mean quick! It took me ten minutes to stamp, heat boss the sentiment from Miracle of the Holiday, brush on some colour and die cut the panels to create a shaped card (technique demonstrated in this video). A friend had emailed me to ask if watercolouring and blending was possible with the Memento Luxe inks so I tried it out for her in the short time available. If I had more time, I would blend it better but I'd definitely say it works. I love the Memento Luxe inks! The colours came out soft across the board and I had to go back over the areas closest to the heat embossing since it was difficult to see the sentiment without adding more colour.

Have you played along with the Hero Arts Holiday Challenge? You have three more weeks to join in on the fun for a chance to win one of the four $50 shopping sprees to the Hero Arts Online Store!

So it's the heat embossing that's your favourite technique? :D I love the soft look of the Luxe watercolouring, must try!
