{Paper Smooches} Foliage 2 Dies

Today, I'm sharing an artsy card where I used white gesso for the first time. It was my friend Jocelyn Olson who recommended it and I'm glad I finally tried it. I used a flat brush to paint the gesso on the edges of the black card base and was amazed at how quickly it dried. I've had the gesso in my stash for a long time and never used it. Now, I think I might be using it a lot! ;)

I created a die cut background using the wider of the two Foliage 2 Dies and then die cut a bunch of the alternate leaf, poking them out through the negative panel. The mint and woodgrain patterned papers are from Amy Tangerine's Rise & Shine 6x6 paper pad.

The cute sentiment from Many Thanks nestled perfectly between the leaves. I used Clay and Dark Calico mist to create splatter in two corners and added some sparkling clear sequins.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

What a beautiful effect you've created by having the leaves nestle into the negatives - this card is just gorgeous!

If I could have a whole collection of just leaf dies, I'd be thrilled, Emily. [wait... I think I do have quite a few!!] This is so pretty - and I adore the sentiment! Is the gesso white? It surely reads grey or pale blue on the black cardstock - stunning card!

Wow, this is pretty! It's hard to believe you haven't used your gesso till now! The way the leaves peek out of the negative die cuts is stunning.
