{Technique Tuesday} Happy Hydrangea Gift Set

My son's piano teacher has a new gig aboard a cruise ship for the next six months so I wanted to gift her some cards to take along, making it easy to keep in touch with friends and family while she's away.

Using my MISTI stamping tool and the gorgeous Happy Hydrangea stamp set, I was able to stamp eight cards quite quickly.

They all use the same layout but in four different colours. I coloured two cards in each colour. I also swapped out the sentiments so that there are five different sentiments covering a variety of occasions.

I used two of the sentiments from Happy Hydrangea, as well as two sentiments from Strawberry and one from Iris Flower. All of the sentiments from the Greenhouse Society Collection use the same mix of fonts so it's easy to mix and match sentiments from these lovely florals.

I used three shades of distress inks for each set of hydrangea colours (all listed below), wetting the watercolour cardstock first and then dabbing colour and allowing the water to work its magic.

I also added a bit of shadowing around the large bundles, as well as shimmer in the centres of all the flowers using a clear Wink of Stella marker.

I die cut the two floating florals and attached them close to the sentiments using glue dots. This creates movement guides the eye from the top right to the bottom left of the card.

Only the first three hydrangea colours occur in nature but my favourite is actually the orange one! Which of the four colours do you like best?

August 2018 Release Peeks start tomorrow! See you again then. :)

Oh Emily, these are so pretty! I love the accent of the floating petals to draw the eye. My favourite colour is the purple.

When I was very little, I only knew of white hydrangeas that my grandfather grew. I like them even better in all these pretty colours on these beautiful colours! (Bummer that your piano teacher is leaving, though...)
