{Two Many Cards Video Series} featuring Catherine Pooler Designs + Giveaway!

Hi, everyone! Kalyn and I are back with our video series, Two Many Cards. If you missed our other videos in this series, check out the original post HERE, which explains how and why we're sharing our own unique take on the same products.

Today, we're featuring the Amber's World Bundle (Amber's World stamps and Amber's World dies are 50% off as this video goes live) and Life of the Party Minis from Catherine Pooler Designs. I have a weakness for globes, atlases and maps so this set was love at first sight. I love the florals on the globe and the floral additions for layering and creating bouquets, laurels and other ways to frame the beautiful sentiments.

If you're not familiar with Catherine Pooler inks, you need to discover them! They're so amazing for stamping, heat embossing, watercolouring and so much more! Visit this link to learn all about them. I guarantee you'll be addicted. ;)

I smooshed the Life of the Party Minis on a craft sheet, then used a wet brush to colour all of the images, which were stamped with Midnight Ink and heat embossed with sparkle embossing powder.

I created a textured base for the first card by dry embossing with the Mod Squared Stencil (also discounted as this video goes live). If you've never tried this technique with a stencil, I urge you to give it a try! It adds versatility to all of your stencils and is so much fun.

For my second card, I used the Plaid Background Stamp to create patterned paper that coordinates with the colours on the globe. I also used the hill die from the Winterhaven Dies to cut the curves for those pieces which serves as an anchor or table for the globe to sit on.

I tied some metallic silver string to the globe and popped on both pieces with foam tape. The elements on this card have a lot of curves so I used a corner chomper to round three of the four corners on the card base.

{Technique Tuesday} Anniversary Duo

My husband and I celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary this past Wednesday and we thought it would be fun to make each other a card using the same four sets! We picked Robbie Raccoon, Sammy the Squirrel, Parker & Penny Pig, and Bailey the Bunny.

If you've been following me on Instagram, you'll know that our most frequent visitors are squirrels and raccoons. The squirrels are always ultra cute and entertaining to watch, and the raccoons are extremely clever in the scariest way. The City of Toronto thought they had created raccoon-proof compost bins but the raccoons quickly figure it out. Click HERE to read one of the most interesting articles about our raccoons!

When Technique Tuesday released Robbie Raccoon for the March 2019 addition to the Animal House Collection, I joked that it was made for me! As always with the Animal House sets, the punny sentiments are fantastic and so versatile. It's not often that you see funny anniversary sentiments but the one both my husband and I used on our cards is perfect for the occasion.

When my husband gave me his card, I was so blown away by it that I forgot to read what he wrote! The card sat next to my computer and I admired it for hours before I realized that I hadn't read the inside. LOL I absolutely love how he shaded the squirrel with orangey-tan bits like one of our favourite grey squirrels.

It's quite hilarious that we both cut off the lid of the green bin (aka compost bin), as if the cheeky raccoon purposely spilled food from it as a gift to the squirrel. The City of Toronto also provides us with grey (garbage) bins and blue (recycling) bins, in addition to the green (compost) bins.

For my version, I modified the sentiment from its original four lines to two so it would fit better with my design. I also added a few extra details to my scene, like stamping the footprints in pumice stone to blend in with the sponged background and cutting inserts around the raccoon's tail and squirrel's paws to tuck in the watermelon pieces. It's always a joy to create with the Animal House Collection and I love that they're so easy to mix and match!

{Technique Tuesday} Virtual Birthday Sale!

Today, everyone here at Technique Tuesday wants to wish you a Happy Virtual Birthday! We celebrate everyone's special day in late March with a once-a-year special offer. To get 20% off your entire order, enter coupon code HB2019 at checkout! Hurry...this offer ends on Sunday, March 24, 2019 at midnight PDT!

My card features one of my favourite birthday sentiment sets, Sassy Birthday, along with Gertie and Garth Goat, Hanna the Horse and Funny Farm. I started by stamping out all of the images with black pigment ink and heat embossing them with clear embossing powder.

Then I used distress inks to watercolour all of the images and die cut them with their coordinating dies. After arranging the images to determine their position on the card, I stamped a custom sentiment using three different phrases from Sassy Birthday and Gertie and Garth Goat.

When the sentiment was finished, I watercolored background to anchor my scene and adhered the elements to the card base with a combination of glue dots and foam tape. In my supply list below, I've included links to all of the stamp sets I used on my card, as well as other projects featuring those same sets.

{Technique Tuesday} Big Stinkin' Deal

Hello, friends! For today's feature, I've combined an unusual trio of sets, including Sally and Sherman the Skunks (with coordinating dies), along with Beautiful Narcissus (coordinating dies) and Paper Airplane on the Border.

I'd yet to ink up Sally and Sherman or Beautiful Narcissus so I thought it would be fun to combine them. The flowers were big enough that they worked well as "bushes" for the cute little skunks. Ha! I used the Paper Airplane on the Border die as a grassy hill.

All of the images were heat embossed with clear embossing powder and watercolored with distress inks. I sponged the sky to match the pussy willows (is that what they are?) and splattered shimmer mist on the grassy hill to create a sparkly speckled look.

{Two Many Cards Video Series} featuring Clearly Besotted + Giveaway!

Hi, everyone! Kalyn and I are back with our video series, Two Many Cards. If you missed our other videos in this series, check out the original post HERE, which explains how and why we're sharing our own unique take on the same products.

Today, we're featuring the That's Genius and Bookworm stamp sets and coordinating dies from Clearly Besotted. These cats and dogs are so adorable, and I really love the clever and hilarious sentiments! These sets will definitely come in handy for friends and teachers.

I stamped several images from both sets and coloured them with Copic markers. All of the colours I used are listed in the supply links below.

I inset the bookshelf to create a shaker element and filled it with super sparkly crystal stars.

I used a woodgrain embossing folder to create texture on the bottom third of the second card, providing an anchor for my little scene.

I just love the expressions on these cute cats and dogs! The grey kitty is extremely curious about what the dog is reading. LOL

I just love the way this particular kitty looks nestled amongst all those books on the shelf, especially with its tail curled around her own book.

When colouring all these images, I stuck with primary colours and added a few extras when necessary. This makes it easy to mix and match, and keeps the elements from looking too cluttered.

When I use clean and simple layouts, I love it when the cardstock stands out and this white linen cardstock has been a long-time favourite.

Originally, I wanted to place the kitty right next to the dog, as if she were peeking while they were writing. I was going to pair them up with the "Good Luck in Your Exams" sentiment but I don't condone cheating. It would've been funny though! ðŸ˜¹

Clearly, the dog is not doing what the kitty wants him do be doing, which is read first, eat second and then sleep! I guess the book he's reading isn't very good. LOL
