As soon as I saw Shari Carroll's velveteen stamping technique video for the Hero Arts March Contest, I knew I had to try it. Do you remember when it was a fashion faux-pas to pair up red with pink and navy with black? The same rang true for white and ivory. All those rules are now out the window. Mind you, it doesn't always work and I rarely even think of doing it but, for this card, I just had to pair up white with ivory and I love how it looks.
I started by stamping the Zig Zag background on to the central panel, then I inked up the largest dot from Many Dots with three colours of distress ink. The sentiment is from Year Round Sentiments, one of my newest favourites. The rose dies are from My Favorite Things and the leaves are from Lil' Inker Designs' acorn die set. I really loved trying out this new technique. While I was going through my Hero Arts stash, I discovered that I didn't have many solid stamps and almost no flower stamps. That is a problem that should be rectified soon. ;) My husband stopped by as I was photographing the card to say that he really likes the colours, then he freaked out after realizing that he only has two weeks to make me an anniversary card. LOL

Wow, Emily! What a fantastic card. I love the soft colors and the mix of white and ivory. It's so soft and subtle, even with the geometric pattern.
Fabulous design! Love the mix of the casual zigzag with the elegant flowers.
I'm giggling over the comment about hubby! I love how the white and Ivory looks on your card Emily and I think the coloured circles add that interesting touch! Such a beautiful card! (I have that MFT die but I mess up everytime I try to make those floewrs with paper! Maybe there is a trick to it?)

And what about white and ivory AND grey? It doesn't seem to matter, because the colours definitely work here. Beautiful card.

Ack! This is really sweet! Love those beautiful roses!!
super stunning em. it is so elegant and classic and the colors are spot on.
So gorgeous and elegant! Thank you for the tip.
Wow! Such an elegant card! It's really different and creative with the colors and the layers of stamps. White and ivory still make me pause in fashion (I grew up in AZ where everything is white, beige, or cream and I'm still scarred from the experience), but I love how it looks on your card! Yes, you *need* to rectify the lack of solid and flower stamps--LOL! Maybe as an anniversary present to yourself ;)
Absolutely beautiful tfs!!!
