{Neat & Tangled} October Release Week: Day 3 + Giveaway!

Welcome to Day 3 of Neat & Tangled's October Release! Today, the design team is featuring the Please Deliver stamp set, designed by Danielle Walls, and the Cowbell stamp set and coordinating die, designed by Miriam Prantner! All of these products will also be available for purchase when the October release goes live on Friday.

I'll admit that I had no clue what this Cowbell set was all about. I asked my husband if he knew the significance of it and he pointed me to the Saturday Night Live skit. In pop culture terms, it basically means a remedy or something everything needs more of. I created two cards, the first of which uses the stamp set in its original format. I added a little smile from the Creepy Cute stamp set to give the cowbell personality. ;)

For the second card, I wanted to show the set's versatility so I used a Versamarker to create the little arches that a cheese grater would have. Then I painstakingly masked the letters from the sentiments and created my own word "cheese". The apple and adorable mouse are from Into the Woods, which was showcased by the design team on Monday.

I stamped and heat embossed the sentiments and images for quick and easy watercolouring with distress inks, which is my new addiction! The patterned papers are from a retired Halloween paper pad but I've linked to current seasonal papers below. You can pretty much substitute anything in place of the cowbell - cake, coffee and presents - by mixing and matching stamp sets!

There's a GIVEAWAY! Be sure to leave a comment on the Neat & Tangled Blog for your chance to win the Please Deliver and Cowbell stamp sets! There will ALSO be a $25 gift certificate drawn from all comments left on the design team blogs so be sure to leave one here, too! :)

All release products will be available for purchase on Friday and I'll be updating my links at that time. See you again tomorrow!

Had to check out your cheese grater card. So creative, especially since this cowbell stumps me. I just don't get it.

EMILY! These are absolutely FANtastic! I had to ask what this whole cowbell thing was too...it's hilarious! LOVE your cheese grater = genius.

Great cards. It's funny how you did not know the significance of cow bells. Because I had the same exact reaction it must be an American thing? Anyways it's a really fun set and you did a great job altering it.

What a clever idea to make the cowbell into a cheese grater! I remember the SNL skit about cowbell and it's hilarious--and I really like the stamp set.

Very inventive way to stretch the stamps! My only experience with cowbells (other than real cows)takes place during bike races where the spectators cheer on the racers as they go by, or by the finish line official to indicate the last lap of the race!!

I love your cheese grater conversion! Brilliant idea to show an alternate use. You can only tell a gag so many times.

Both of your cards are great; love the water color wash backgrounds! And love your clever creation of the cheese grater from the cowbell! Ingenious!

I'm with you - I was mystified by the cowbell! I love how you've made it into a cheese grater - makes much more sense to me as cowbells are for Swiss cows and they make a lot of cheese!

So as a small-town girl, other than as bells on cows, I associate cowbells with curling bonspiels. What can I say, it's my upbringing. :P Now that I've watched the video, I can see where for the right person, your straight-up cowbell would be perfect! I like the cheese grater version myself. And I'm totally stealing your watercolour wash background design for a card I'm making. :D
