{Altenew} So Happy For You

I'm taking a break from regularly scheduled posts to share this baby card that was commissioned by a dance teacher at my son's school. One of their drama teachers is going on maternity leave soon and they're having a party tomorrow.

I thought that the little foxes from Hug Me were a perfect representation of mom and baby, especially since she's holding a little heart! All of the other images and the sentiment are from Celebrations, one of my favourite Altenew sets.

I heat embossed all of the images with sparkle embossing powder and watercolored them with distress inks, listed below. I also used the Watercolor Stripes Stencil on the left side of the base panel to create a bit of a background and to create movement across the card from left to right.

I added a strip of gold glitter cardstock at the bottom of the card to ground and highlight the foxes. Half of the images were adhered flat with large glue dots and the other half were popped up with foam tape for dimension and visual interest.

{Technique Tuesday} featuring Love is in the Air

Hi, friends! We got more than two feet of snow yesterday and the snowbanks are almost as tall as I am. I don't remember having this much snow since I was a little girl. It's so pretty to look at and play in but a pain to shovel and commute in. In my whole life, we've never had a snow day in the big city!

Today's card features Love is in the Air and I created masks for the airplane and hot air balloon before stamping them with black Archival ink. I left the masks in place after stamping and used a cloud stencil to sponge the pretty pink clouds with worn lipstick distress ink.

Then I used distress inks to colour in the images and finished by adhering clear drops with liquid glue and a jewel picker.

{Technique Tuesday} featuring Paper Airplane on the Border + Adventure Awaits

Today I'm sharing another project featuring Technique Tuesday's January 2019 Release. This one features the Paper Airplane on the Border Die. Isn't it fun? I think it will mainly be used for love-themed and Valentine's cards but I wanted to use it with Adventure Awaits to make an encouragement card.

The paper airplane works well with the travel-themed stamps from Adventure Awaits. I used the border die portion to cut the top half of the front of the card so only the bottom half opens to reveal the inside of the card.

After stamping the compass and sentiment, I created a mask for the star before sponging the inside of the card using four distress inks, listed below. Then I die cut the other half of the Paper Airplane on the Border Die from green-blue and silver glitter cardstock and adhered the pieces to the card base using liquid glue.

{Technique Tuesday} featuring Bobbi the Bear + Beau & Beatrice Beaver

Hi, friends! How has your January been? It's been quite the rollercoaster here, with extremes of -37C one day and 6C three days later. Yikes! How about a cute critter card to brighten your day? This one features Bobbi the Bear with Beau & Beatrice Beaver. They go so well together, don't they? If you know me at all, you'll know that I can't resist any opportunity to turn a bear into a panda and I did that hear with selective watercolouring!

I watercolored both Bobbi and Beatrice with mini distress inks, all listed below. Then I die cut the images with their coordinating dies and set them aside.

I used a large acrylic block and the smooshing technique to create the background with a mix of evergreen bough and peacock feathers. After drying the smooshed areas with my heat tool, I used the same colours to create splatters on the background, then sprayed the panel with shimmer spritz.

After cutting a 4.25" x 4.25" card base, I trimmed the watercolour panel and stamped the custom sentiment which combines two sentiments, sending big bear hugs from Bobbi the Bear and gnaw-some from Beau & Beatrice Beaver. I added a strip of diagonal black and white stripes before attaching the panel and the critters.

7th Annual Seasons Givings Blog Hop + Giveaways!

**GIVEAWAY CLOSED**
Congratulations to JanR!

Happy New Year and welcome to the Seasons Givings Blog Hop! Latisha Yoast started this annual hop six years ago to celebrate the spirit of giving over the holidays and I'm thrilled to be part of it again this year. Every single company or design on the list below has a giveaway! All you need to do is visit their blogs and leave a comment. Grab your favourite beverage, a snack or two, and start hopping!

You've seen me dress up Beau & Beatrice Beaver with Hello Winter accessories and now I'm dressing up a family of takeout cups and a mug from Perk Up. Happy New Year from my family to yours! We're wishing you warm, cozy winter sentiments from the Classic Christmas stamp set. ;)

First, I stamped all of the images using Archival Jet Black ink and watercolored them using the distress inks listed in the supply list below. Then I trimmed them using scissors and extended the scarf from Hello Winter since it wasn't wide enough for the big coffee cup. If you look closely, you can see the extra piece I added.

I drew in the smile on the little cup using a Copic multi-liner. The steam representing the little guy's hair is from Sassy Coffee and it's smudged because I added it after all of the images were adhered with foam tape. I don't mind the smudge though, since the right side of the curve looks three-dimensional. I was lucky I didn't ruin the entire card!

To finish, I added googly eyes to all the cups and stamped falling snowflakes from Hello Winter using the same distress ink colours I used to watercolour the images.

Here's the full list of hop participants:
