My Top Ten Cards of 2010

Choosing my top ten cards was a lot harder than I imagined! I copied all my favourite cards into a folder and came up with an astounding 63. When I whittled my list down to 29, I couldn't eliminate anymore. What I did instead was put the ones that I absolutely love into a new folder. It was a lot easier that way and I was able to choose ten very quickly. I was sad to leave the other 19 behind though. Maybe next year's blog hop should be for a top 20 or 30. ;)

Here are my top ten favourite cards of 2010, from oldest to most recent (clicking on the photos will take you to the original posts):

There are so many different reasons why I chose these ones which range from true clean and simple to scrappy collage and embellished. If you've been a long-time follower, you'll probably recognize them all (or maybe not). If you're new to my blog, please browse around and let me know which ones are your favourites.

I hope you will add your name to the blog hop HERE and HERE. Don't forget that there are prizes to be won! I would love to see which ten of your cards are favourites for 2010!!

It's a Beautiful Day

Kudos to Unity for getting this kit to me in five days! I love the variety this kit offers and it has so many great sentiments. I particularly love this one since it reminds us to enjoy each day. I combined the clouds background (love it) and the flowers with one of my favourite sentiments in this kit to make this card for this week's Unity Addicts Challenge. UAC23 requires us to make a monochromatic card with a pop of colour. The frame behind the clouds was created by directly blotting my Crumb Cake ink pad repeatedly on kraft cardstock. As you know, I love simple cards and making this one gave me a few other ideas so you may see a few more cards in this style!

I hope you're all enjoying this beautiful day. We are having the most beautiful fall weather here in Toronto and it's supposed to be quite warm this week, too!

When I Am With You

This week's Unity Addicts Challenge #20 is to make a masculine birthday card using at least one chipboard, grungeboard or cardboard element. A masculine birthday card I can do, but chipboard? Yikes! I don't own any chipboard-type embellishments and wasn't about to run out to buy some just for this challenge so I did some research, found this tutorial on how to make my own chipboard pieces, and started creating. I love the idea of birthday cards that don't have the typical Happy Birthday or Birthday Wishes sentiments on them so I chose to make a card which could be given to any man on his birthday (or any occasion)!

I received my beautiful September KOTM in the mail yesterday so I was happy for the opportunity to use it. When I showed my son the images, I asked him to tell me what all the objects were and he knew the words for everything except the Eiffel Tower. He called it a clock tower which is fine because that is so cute. ;) Two of the images are giant leaves but my son thought they were trees and they could most definitely be trees (I'll be crediting him when I use them as such)! I used them as leaves on my card without the stems because I didn't want the stems to interfere with the framed bird image which I love. I love hanging things off the edge of my cards these days. Can you tell? :) I just make up for the size of the card by slicing the exact amount off the other side so the card still fits nicely into the standard envelope.

I'm not going to deny it any longer. I am a Unity Addict! I just wonder why I didn't become one sooner. :Þ
