{Technique Tuesday} June 2019 Release Blog Hop

Welcome to  Technique Tuesday's June 2019 Release Blog Hop! The design team is featuring a variety of release products and you're sure to love them so be sure to head over to the Technique Tuesday blog for the full reveal and links to all of the amazing projects. All of the amazing new products are now available for purchase!

Today, I've combined Blooming Branches with Helen and Harry the Hippos. Who knew they'd be so perfect together! Originally, I was going to use them separately, on two different cards but when I saw how beautiful the blooms were hanging above the hippo's head, I decided to merge the two designs together.

First, I stamped the hippo onto a panel cut from watercolour cardstock. Then I watercoloured it and added some mud and water with distress inks. The bird was actually added much later, after I determined the position of the flowers.

Then I stamped two copies of the the flowers on watercolour cardstock and strategically coloured them knowing that I was going to fussy cut both layers, layering only the flowers. You can find all the  distress ink colours in the supply links below.

After fussy cutting the flowers and deciding how they'd be attached to the panel, I picked a sentiment suitable for the space allowed. I stamped the sentiment and the bird to fill the space. To finish, I attached the flowers with glue dots and attached the panel to a kraft card base with a strip of patterned paper.

{Two Many Cards Video Series} featuring Honey Bee Stamps + Giveaways!

Hi, everyone! I'm thrilled to have my friend Ardyth Percy-Robb guesting with me this month for Two Many Cards. If you're new to this series, please visit my original post HERE, which explains how and why we're sharing our own unique take on the same products.

Today, we're so excited to be featuring beautiful products from Honey Bee Stamps, including the Rainbow Wishes stamp set and Rainbow Wishes honey cuts. I'm also using the Thanks a Bunch stamp set and Over the Rainbow 6x6 paper pad.

I started by die cutting rainbow arcs from eight patterned papers to represent the colours of the rainbow. I also die cut three of the four cloud dies from both white glitter and silver glitter cardstock.

The sentiment is a custom one created by combining words from both Rainbow Wishes and Thanks a Bunch. It was stamped with Versafine Onyx Black pigment ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder for a shiny look.

On my first card, I added little details like die cut rays on the inside of the peeking cloud, raised edges on the cloud in the foreground and inlaid falling hearts that coordinate with the rainbow.

Oh my second card, I use two rainbows in colours that mirror the order of the other.

I also created a shaker from one of the larger cloud dies. I added sparkling clear sequins in several sizes, both inside the shaker and to embellish the rainbows.

The sentiment from this card is from the Rainbow Wishes stamp set and it was heat embossed just like the first card.

I had so much fun making these two cards and I love how I was able to achieve two totally different looks while keeping both designs clean and simple. I think a set of these would make a great end-of-year teacher gift!

{Concord & 9th} May 2019 Feature Friday: Cool Treats Turnabout

Welcome back to another Concord & 9th Feature Friday! This week, I'm delighted to be sharing two projects featuring the Cool Treats Bundle. Can you believe this was my first time using a turnabout?! Whaaat? Well, I clearly need to own a few more sets the rest! LOL

I actually made this card second but it was finished first because I didn't know what to do with the completed Cool Treats Turnabout background! The stamping wasn't perfect on my first attempt so I decided to use a strip of it and I love how it looks!

I used the little popsicle dies and added texture to all of them by die cutting the stitched elements and dry embossing the halves on to the blue popsicle. I sponged the popsicles to make them the same colours as the ink colours used (see supply list below). I created my own vertical sentiment with phrases from the Cool Treats Turnabout and this month's freebie Lots to Say. I finished with a strip of white glitter cardstock, a white glitter heart and a few stamped stars.

I restamped the Cool Treats Turnabout and covered it completely with vellum. This allowed it to shine but not distract from the big popsicle. I used the diagonal lines in two colours to create a frame for the sentiment. Then I recut the popsicle in white glitter cardstock to create a dipped look and to add sparkle to the card. I finished with a white hemp bow on the stick.

I can't even begin to tell you how much I enjoyed playing with the Cool Treats Bundle! It's a must-have, especially for the summer months, but my family enjoys cool treats year-round so I can totally imagine making holiday cards with it by switching up the sentiment. I need to play with these more and see what other delicious designs I can dream up. ;)

It has been an absolute pleasure guesting for Concord & 9th this month! In case you missed my other guest designer posts, here they are:
