Ellen Hutson | Essentials by Ellen Tricks for Treats Week

This week, Ellen Hutson Design Ambassadors are sharing more projects using the Fall + Halloween Release. I've made a matching card and tag set using 6 of the new release items. Even though I used so many products, I kept my designs clean and simple.

I had a lot of fun playing with the Tiny Stars Background, which is a foiling stamp. On the card, I used lavender petal hot foil on Gina K white layering weight cardstock; you can see the green hot foil on vellum in the background. I combined both the lavender petal and green hot foils on the Farmhouse Tags.

I also used the Essentials Stars dies with the A2 Piercing Plate 2 to create texture. There are two layers of licorice twist cardstock and the silver glitter outlines are stacked on two layers of Neenah heavyweight for extra dimension.

On the card, I used Catherine Pooler's Grass Skirt ink pad and the ink-to-paper technique to create a small panel of green cardstock, which I used to heat emboss a sentiment from Tag It - Halloween, then die cut it using the Nice of You Die.

On the tag, I heat embossed the sentiment from Tag It - Halloween on sour grape cardstock die cut using the Farmhouse Tags, which were layered with licorice twist cardstock and tied with midnight twine. I created a shadow layer for the ghosts and bats from Halloween Boo-quet on sour grape cardstock and licorice twist cardstock for the card and tags, respectively.

Spellbinders | September 2021 Small Die of the Month

Today's Spellbinders inspiration features the September 2021 Small Die of the Month with the Love Stripes Embossing Folder. You can see these flowers used on my previous card for the Glimmer Hot Foil Kit of the Month. In fact, this card is a simpler version of yesterday's card since it only has half the colours. As with all card kit subscriptions, you can cancel anytime and there is no long-term obligation!

The September 2021 Small Die of the Month allows for ultra clean and simple cards that make an impact. It includes 8 words that you can use to customize your sentiments. They're paired up so each word has a mat which increases all the design possibilities. Since I always have a shortage of birthday cards, I decided to make another birthday card.

I die cut my sentiment from gold glitter cardstock. I also die cut the words twice more with Neenah heavyweight cardstock to layer. The mat was die cut from vellum cardstock. The layers for the sentiment are -- from top to bottom -- gold glitter, white, vellum and white for a total of four layers. I wanted the extra white layers to pop up the gold words, as well as lift the vellum off the card base for visual interest.

To keep it crisp and keep the focus on the words, I fewer flowers on this card and these were the extra flowers that were die cut and assembled for yesterday's card. The flowers were die cut from Simon Says Stamp cardstock in Lipstick Red, Audrey Blue and Lavender. The gold foil cardstock is from the Sizzix opulent pack. I used Bearly Art liquid glue to assemble the sentiment and flowers, and popped up the flowers with foam tape.

VIDEO | Taylored Expressions | Holiday Card feat. Gathered Stars Die

Hello, crafty friends! I'm back with another video for Taylored Expressions, this time featuring the Gathered Stars Die which was an order exclusive during the month of May 2021. This die is so beautiful and looks great as the focal point, on the edges as an accent, and even used in parts as a shaker.

This is definitely one of the quickest and easiest cards I've made and I love that since it can be mass-produced. I started by die cutting the Gathered Stars Die twice from gold glitter cardstock. I separated all the positive pieces from the die cut and saved them for a future card.

Next, I stamped the On the Block - Merry, three times using Watermelon, Cherry Pop and Mulled Wine inks. I die cut the stamped words using the coordinating On the Block - Merry Shadow die.

I cut a 4" x 5.25" panel of Sugar Cube cardstock and used the super fine nozzle of the Bearly Art liquid glue to adhere the Gathered Stars die cuts on an angle. I didn't have to be too precise with this because the glitter cardstock is very flexible and I also wanted the edges to pop up a bit for dimension and visual interest.

Next, I stamped the Simple Strips - Christmas sentiments with watermark ink on Oreo cardstock and heat embossed them with gold embossing powder. I die cut the sentiment strips using the Simple Strips - Asymmetrical Die and chose one that fit with all the Merry die cuts.

To finish, I popped up the centre On the Block - Merry and the Simple Strips - Christmas sentiment on foam tape. Then I adhered the other two Merry dies using Scor-Tape and trimmed off the overhanging pieces. I attached the panel to an Oreo card base and my card is done.

Thanks so much for watching!

Ellen Hutson | Summer of Stamping: Week 3 -- Pretty Pink Posh: Summer Circles

I'm back with more Ellen Hutson Summer of Stamping inspiration and this time I'm featuring the July 26th Release! Pretty Pink Posh designed the Summer Circles Combo which is a beautiful set of summery images in circles and the coordinating dies turn them into suns. It's so fun to colour these beautiful images and I had a really hard time deciding what colours and mediums to create with the sun die.

I started by stamping the flip flop image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colouring it with Copic markers. You can find all those colours in the supply links below. Next, I die cut the image using the coordinating dies and die cut the sun from several colours of cardstock, as well as silver glitter cardstock before settling on the gold foil cardstock. I preferred the foil over glitter since it shows the stitching detail on the die.

Next, I used the Happy Birthday Hot Foil Stamp with gold foil on Neenah heavyweight in the Gemini Foilpress and Gemini Junior die cutting machine. Then I die cut it using the coordinating Big Scripty Happy Birthday Die.

I just love the way the two types of gold foil complement each other! To provide a contrast, I cut a 4" x 5.5" panel from Bazzill Robin's Egg cardstock to match the flip flops and added texture to it using the A2 Piercing Plate. I love this plate so much, I could use it on everything.

I added a strip of patterned paper to the bottom of the card base before attaching the pierced panel and die cut elements. I popped the stamped image on with foam tape and used liquid glue to attach everything to the front panel, including the gold crystals which I thought looked like sparkly sand.

Spellbinders | July 2021 Clear Stamp of the Month

Today's pairing features both the July 2021 Clear Stamp of the Month and the July 2021 Small Die of the Month from Spellbinders. The sentiments and images from the Clear Stamp of the Month work perfectly with both the Small Die of the Month and the Large Die of the Month. Most monthly kits work well together and you can find a list of all the value kits HERE. If you subscribe by July 24, 2021, you will receive this month's featured kits which means today is the last day to grab these particular kits!

If you missed my previous inspiration with the July 2021 Small Die of the Month, you can find it HERE. Once again, I used it differently than intended on both these cards by using only part of the die to keep the focus on the July 2021 Clear Stamp of the Month.

I used a variety of cardstock brands here. On the first mini slim card, the base was cut from white linen cardstock. The top layer was cut from pale rose cardstock and lined with opal glitter cardstock and the flowers were heat embossed on the card base with halo embossing powder to match the glitter cardstock. The sentiment was heat embossed on sea salt cardstock.

On the second mini slim card, the base was cut from pale rose cardstock, the top layers were cut from sea salt cardstock and lined with silver glitter cardstock and topped with smooth white cardstock. To finish, I heat embossed the sentiment and single roses above and below, framing the sentiment with white silk bows.

Pigment Craft | Happy Day

Hello, crafty friends! If you shopped at Pigment Craft Co. during the Canada Day Video Hop, you would've received a free Folkart Floral Stencil FREE with your $50+ purchase. I sat down in the middle of the night to play with mine because I knew I wouldn't have been able to fit in some playtime otherwise. I really should've gone to bed but sometimes you just have to follow your mojo. Plus, I still had wine to finish so that's my real excuse. LOL

I started by choosing four of my go-to Catherine Pooler ink colours for the stencilling - Mint To Be, Melon Ice, Aquatini and Sweet Sixteen. The stencil is a three-step stencil so you can use the same colour for all the blooms or mask off the four blooms and ink them up with different colours.

I stencilled the Folkart Florals twice, as mirror images, on a 7" x 7" piece of white cardstock and added details using Copic markers. I stamped the Happy Day sentiment from the Dashing Sentiments stamp set in Tranquil, Cove Blue and Juniper Mist to create an ombre effect. Then I die cut it using the coordinating die, and also die cut a second piece from silver glitter cardstock.

I cut down the stencilled piece to fit the A2 card base and attached it using a tape runner. After stacking the die cut sentiments with double-sided adhesive, I added foam tape to the back and popped that on to the card. To finish, I embellished the card with silver pearls.

Catherine Pooler | Make a Wish Release: StampNation Early Ordering

StampNation Early Ordering is on! If you're a StampNation member, you can now order Catherine Pooler's Make a Wish Release. There are so many *NEW* products in the shop outside of this release, including  side labels for the ink pads, large blending brushes and infinity shaker pockets! They're all in the Make a Wish Release category on the website so be sure to check it out.

I made this Essentials Slimline card featuring the Doxie Party Bundle and new Beach Retreat Inks. I thought it would be so much fun to bend those little doxies to appear as if they're droopy. I also rock 'n rolled their snouts and feet in a different colour after I saw Erin Thompson's Facebook live.

I was able to use the coordinating dies and the partial die cutting technique to cut the fronts and backs, then use my scissors to cut around their torsos. I also used the Melon Edge Dies to create plaid clouds from the Cupcakes & Candles Patterned Paper. I mixed Highland and Tinseltown sequins to create the shaker mix.

If you missed my previous post featuring Doxie Birthday Party, be sure to check out that post HERE.  General ordering begins tomorrow, July 14th at 9:00am EST!

Catherine Pooler | Make a Wish Release: Doxie Party Bundle Reveal

Are you ready for one of my favourite Catherine Pooler releases ever? I know, I know, I say that a lot but this time it's really true! In all seriousness though, how can you beat new ink colours and the cutest Doxie Party Bundle? You can't. LOL My card design was inspired by the papers from the Cupcakes & Candles 6x6 Patterned Paper.

First of all, let's take a moment to admire the four new Beach Retreat ink colours - Sparkling Berry, Clay Mask, Serene and Merlot. The names alone tell you just how beautiful they are! It's definitely hard to choose a favourite because they all look amazing together but I think mine is Clay Mask.

And how about that doxie from Doxie Birthday Party?! Soooo cute and the stamp set includes a second doxie facing the other direction! Plus, they both have sweaters and all those party accessories. Yup, this is going to be a much-used set and I'm already secretly hoping that a similar cat set is coming, too. ;)

I used the outer part of the Round of Happy Dies to create the silver glitter sentiment. When I was figuring out the layout of my card, I noticed that two of the three repeated sentiments formed a perfect arc around the doxie so I cut off one of them and let the doxie complete the circle.

The new Beach Retreat inks, amazing Doxie Party Bundle and entire Make a Wish Release will be available on July 13th at 12:00pm EST for StampNation members and on July 14th at 9:00am EST for general ordering. The following links will not go live 'til then.
