{Lawn Fawn + Winnie & Walter} Jump for Joy + Sketchy Thoughts with Sentimental: Birthday

On Day 17 of Kathy Racoosin's 30-Day Colouring Challenge, Ang, Linds and I featured Lawn Fawn's Jump for Joy and I paired the autumn critters with Winnie & Walter sentiments from Sketchy Thoughts and Sentimental: Birthday.

I used a Sizzix woodgrain embossing folder to create the texture on the white panel but you can also use pre-embossed woodgrain cardstock. I used a Wink of Stella clear glitter marker to add shimmer to the leaves.

{STAMPlorations + Catherine Pooler} SmallBirds + Lovely Flowers

On Day 18 of Kathy Racoosin's 30-Day Colouring Challenge, Ang, Linds and I featured STAMPlorations' SmallBirds stamp set. I paired my birds with some leafy sprigs and a sentiment from Catherine Pooler's Lovely Flowers. The panel was die cut from My Favorite Things' Blueprints 29.

I masked off the birds before ink blending the sky and grass with distress inks and splattering with water and shimmer spray. I tied the sprigs together with gold string and placed a piece of burlap paper from a retired BasicGrey paper pad called Barista between the card base and watercolour panel. Below, I've listed substitutes for the birds and patterned paper. :)

{My Favorite Things} Chill Wishes + Sale!

On Day 11 of Kathy Racoosin's 30-Day Colouring Challenge in September, Ang, Linds and I featured My Favorite Things' Chill Wishes. Aren't these penguins a hoot? I love that the sentiments make great winter cards. After all, we need something to occupy us through the cold weather, right? And there's no better way to do it than with humour and penguins!

Unfortunately, the double-stitched rectangle die has been retired but I've included links below to a couple of similar border dies, like the Inside & Out Diagonal Rectangle STAX and new A2 Stitched Rectangle STAX Set 1. In fact, My Favorite Things is having a 20% off STAX sale now through October 28, 2017! Click on the banner below to shop and use code STAX to save.

I absolutely love these Doodlebug shimmer enamel dots! They are subtle but add that something extra and make excellent snowflakes without competing with my clean and simple design.

{Lawn Fawn} Kitty-in-a-Snow-Globe Birthday Shaker

Hi, everyone! I'm back with another card from Kathy Racoosin's 30-Day Colouring Challenge. This one was for Day 10 when Ang, Linds and I featured Lawn Fawn's Meow You Doin'? stamp set, which is one of the cutest cat sets ever. I combined it with the Ready, Set, Snow and Ready, Set, Shake stamp sets, as well as the Ready, Set, Snow Shaker Add-On dies. By mixing and matching all of the Ready, Set, Snow sets, it's easy to transform a traditionally holiday/winter image into a shaker for all occasions!

I used the distress ink colours listed below to watercolour the snow globe, kitty and accessories. Then I added acetate behind the shaker panel and adhered the images in front of the acetate panel so there would be less glare and interference with the sequins. I used Pretty Pink Posh's Iridescent Mini Heart Confetti with Simon Says Stamp's Flat Moonshine sequins.

To create the background, I used a large acrylic block and the smooshing technique with the two grey inks. Then I used the brighter colours to flick splatter off the acrylic block on to two corners of the panel.

{Concord & 9th + Altenew} Hello Lovely + Thinking of You

Back on Day 7 of Kathy Racoosin's 30-Day Colouring Challenge in September, Ang, Linds and I featured Concord & 9th's Hello Lovely stamp set and it makes stunning clean and simple cards! That main image is large enough to fill an entire panel, which is perfect for quick and easy cards. Please see below for all the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Marker colours I used on this card.

I didn't want to overwhelmed the card so I added a tiny scripted sentiment from Altenew's Thinking of You, which is another must-have sentiment set. I love that there's a huge variety of fonts and that most of them will squeeze into any card layout.

The stitched panel is from My Favorite Things' Blueprints 27 die set and is one of my most-used dies. The woodgrain background is from a retired BasicGrey 6x6 paper pad called B-Side and the black strip is from another retired We R Memory Keepers 6x6 paper pad called Love Notes. I've listed a couple of newer paper pads with similar prints and colours that can easily be substituted into a card design like mine.

{Tim Holtz + Technique Tuesday} Bird Crazy + You Aren't Normal

Back on Day 8 of Kathy Racoosin's 30-Day Colouring Challenge in September, I shared this card on Instagram and I'm finally getting a chance to blog it with all the details and a fully supply list!
Ang, Linds and I all used Tim Holtz's Crazy Birds, which I combined with Mini Crazy Birds & Things, as well as a sentiment from Technique Tuesday's You Aren't Normal, which went so well with the expressions on the birds. I just love their whole line of snarky sentiments!

I watercoloured the birds and accessories with distress inks and all of the colours are listed below. I also used masking paper and the ink blending technique to create the ground and backdrop. The birds were stamped and die cut from bristol cardstock and the main panel was cut from watercolour cardstock.

{Altenew} Crafty Friends Blog Hop: Day 2 + Giveaway!

Welcome to Day 2 of Altenew's Crafty Friends Blog Hop! I'm so honoured to be joining Altenew and its line-up of amazingly talented crafters, awesome companies and magazines for this special hop to celebrate our love of crafting and blogging. I've been making handmade cards as far back as I can remember. My mom always insisted on handmade cards, never store-bought. About seven years ago, when I knew I was going to be a stay-at-home-mom for a few more years, I started blogging and then I ventured into publications, which seems like a whole lifetime ago. Does anyone else really miss the tangible paper crafting magazines?! I would definitely count some of the crafty friends I've met in blogland as my best friends. There are a few that I text with every day, not just about crafting but anything and everything. Yup! I love them, they're awesome and I don't know what I'd do without them.

In honour of Altenew and this celebration of crafty friends, I made a trio of cards using six different Altenew stamp sets and three coordinating die sets. The moment I saw the Sweet Friend set, I knew I had to have it. I love frames and I knew that I wanted to pair it up with the foxes from Hug Me.

For the first card, I heat embossed the frame in gold, then created a custom sentiment using two different sentiments, one from Crafty Friends and one from Coffee Love. I just changed the period into a comma using a Copic multi-liner.

The spoon, teacup and saucer are also from the Coffee Love set. I created an ombre effect for the second line using Rose Quartz and Puffy Heart inks.

For all of the frames and foxes, I used the same distress ink colours which are all listed below. It's the difference in embossing powders that changes the look of the frame.

The second card is the only one with a coloured background and I chose the green to coordinate with the watercolours in the images since the frame was so pale. I loved playing with the positions of the foxes in the frames!

The sentiment on this card was created with a line from Hug Me and a partial sentiment from Crafty Friends.

This last card is my favourite of the three. The frame was heat embossed with clear embossing powder over gray pigment ink. At first, I thought it looked dull but the watercolours seem to pop the most of the three frames. Plus, it has a nice rustic, antique look.

I love the three foxes hanging out together - something I always look forward to with my local crafty gals - and the sentiment is so perfect for the setting and this blog hop!

Once again, I used Volcano Lake and Lagoon inks to create the ombre effect on the two-line sentiment, created using phrases from Crafty Friends. It's a must-have stamp set with endless possibilities!

{Stamp of Approval} Winterhaven Collection Bonus: Cheers & Warm Wishes

It's so exciting to see everyone creating with their Winterhaven Collection! At the time of this post, the collection is 90% sold out so be sure to get your box before they're all gone!! I wanted to make a card for Catherine and since it's only fall, I went with non-traditional colours for the poinsettia from 'Tis the Season. I first stamped it in Tiara Ink and then rock 'n' rolled it in Tiki Torch to make the tips darker. This creates an ombre effect with the two shades of ink.

I stamped all the foliage with Mint To Be Ink and Aquatini Ink. The berries were stamped with Something Borrowed Ink. The custom sentiment was created using words from Good Stuff Inside and an ampersand from And Sentiments. Again, I used the rock 'n' roll technique to stamp the words in two blues and ampersand in two yellows.

All papers are Catherine Pooler's Premium White Card Stock, which is the smoothest, most luxurious cardstock! It's a perfect match for her brand of inks, as well as alcohol markers. I was able to blend Mint To Be Ink into the Mod Squared Stencil so easily and it looks amazing close-up.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

{Stamp of Approval} Winterhaven Collection: Release Day!

It's release day and the Winterhaven Collection is now available for purchase! If you haven't already ordered yours, click HERE to grab a box before they're all gone!! You still have time to comment on the three-day hop for your chance to win the collection. If you have already purchased the box and happen to win one, you will be refunded. Go HERE to see all the stops along the hop and be inspired by this amazing collection!

The card I'm sharing today uses the Winterhaven Dies for the village and hills. The frame was created by modifying the tag die from the Good Stuff Dies. I used the partial die cutting technique and flipped the die after cutting just the bottom half without the tab.

The sentiment is from the Here We Come A-Caroling stamp set, stamped with Aquatini ink. The berries are from the 'Tis the Season stamp set and coordinating dies, stamped with Rockin' Red ink.
