I was inspired by the different design elements on this book cover, both the individual elements and the colours. I ended up using the same colours on my card but in different proportions. The first thing I noticed was the outline drawings the background so I decided to white emboss both floral images from Cup of Friendship to create a frame all the way around an audrey blue panel. The colour of this panel was obviously influenced by the first word in the book's title.
When the panel was done, I ran it through my die cutting machine with the Along the Dotted Lines Cover Panel and set it aside to create the sentiment. First, I die cut the base of the Happy Confetti Cuts from black cardstock. Then I cut strips of doll pink, orange peel and lemon chiffon cardstock at various widths, plus some gold mirror cardstock for fun, shine and visual interest. The three bright colours are represented in the title and author of the book.
I used a tape runner to adhere those strips onto a piece of copier paper. Then I lined up the individual letter dies from Happy Confetti Cuts and ran them through my die cutting machine twice to get two complete words. I die cut those individual letters again from Neenah heavyweight cardstock and stacked the letters on to their black base with Bearly Art liquid glue.
Next, I white embossed the secondary sentiment from Happy Coordinates on black cardstock and trimmed it down using my guillotine trimmer. To finish, I attached the floral panel to a white linen card base. The stitched lines made it easy to mount the sentiment strip and die cut letters on the panel with foam tape.
