VIDEO | Bat Mitzvah Card feat. Concord & 9th

My son was invited to his first bat mitzvah so I wanted to make a special card to celebrate the occasion. I was told that the recipient's favourite colours are pink and rose gold so I chose my colours accordingly.

I used Concord and 9th's Vintage Flower stamp set and coordinating dies to heat emboss and create dimension for the flowers, which I watercolored with distress inks.

The custom sentiment was stamped using Concord and 9th's Perfectly Penned stamp set, using Altenew's Coral Berry ink pad.

I used blending brushes to sponge the background in the same colours I used to watercolour the flowers. Then I splattered shimmer spritz to up the glam factor.

I adore the way the flower dies give the petals so much dimension and I'm so pleased with the way this card turned out! I hope the recipient loves it as much as I enjoyed making it.

{Altenew} Celebrate

I'm playing along with Kathy Racoosin's 10th 30-Day Colouring Challenge and for Day 2, a few local friends and I are using Altenew's Extra Special stamp set. I heat embossed and watercoloured two sets of the florals with distress inks.

Then I used the darker three purple inks from the Shades of Purple ink collection to stamp the ombre sentiment from Super Script. I die cut a second word from black glitter cardstock. I blended matching shades of purple distress ink and splattered water to create the background before adhering the flowers and finishing with pearls.

{Technique Tuesday} June 2018 Release Day!

Welcome to Technique Tuesday's June 2018 Release Day! The design team is featuring a variety of release products and you're sure to love them so be sure to head over to the Technique Tuesday blog for the full reveal and links to all of the amazing projects. All of the amazing new products are now available for purchase!

Today, I'm showcasing the Funny Fruits stamp set. I love these whimsical fruit and the best part is the four types of faces you can add to the fruit to give them personality. The punny sentiments allow you to mix and match the fruit for super cute and hilarious scenes!

I started this card by choosing the sentiment first. I never would've thought to combine apples and pineapples on my own so that jumpstarted the idea for my scene. I stamped one pineapple and eight apples on masking paper and cut them out. I used the masks to lay out my scene and stamped them from front to back using my MISTI stamping tool.

The sentiment was stamped with ruby red and moss to highlight the words apples and pineapple. To ground the scene, I masked all of the fruit, then blended in pumice stone and hickory smoke distress inks and misted with shimmer spray. It's super sparkly in person but doesn't really show on camera. ;)

{Ellen Hutson} Blah, Miss Shoe

Since my son inked up All Inside before I did (see his video HERE), I had to make something with these stamps and coordinating dies. The bear is just so cute! If my husband is travelling for a long period, I will send a few cards along with him and put dates on the envelopes so he knows when to open each card. This was today's card!

I used the shoes from Twelve Days and the punny sentiments from 12 Days Companion Greetings, as well as the speech bubble from Got Candy? The pile of Miss Shoe words in blue represent a snowy hill, anchoring the bear, and the patterned paper is from Heidi Swapp's Dreamy 6x6 paper pad.
