VIDEO | Taylored Expressions | 3 Stencilled Card Ideas feat. Modern Eucalyptus Cardmaking Kit

Taylored Expressions has a new cardmaking kit and it's absolutely gorgeous! In this video, I used the Modern Eucalyptus Cardmaking Kit to create three cards. The Modern Eucalyptus Layering Stencils are a new favourite. It makes the most beautiful, soft flower laurels!

I selected two new colours - Rose Water and Tropical Punch - and two existing ink colours - Avocado and Salt Water Taffy - for this set of stencils. In the video, I created three different versions of the layered eucalyptus by varying the order of the colours for each layer.

I used the following order - Avocado, Salt Water Taffy, Rose Water and Tropical Punch - for the Modern Eucalyptus Layering Stencils on this first card. I die cut the Gemstone Thin Frame Cutting Plate with Tropical Punch, Avocado and gold glitter cardstock.

I stamped the sentiment from the Scripted Sentiments stamp set with Oreo ink on Salt Water Taffy cardstock, then attached it to a Sugar Cube card base.  I glued the gemstone frames to the panel, then popped on the eucalyptus flowers on with foam tape.

It's addictive layering these gemstone frames, whether it's one, two or three layers. There are so many ways to use them and, with all the different sizes, no card will look the same.

For my second card, I used the following order - Avocado, Tropical Punch, Salt Water Taffy and Rose Water - to stencil the eucalyptus flowers. I trimmed a full A2 panel from Avocado cardstock and added detail using two of the Diagonal Stitch Rectangle Stacklets.

I white heat embossed one of the Scripted Sentiments on the panel and attached it to a Sugar Cube card base. Then I glued two Rose Water gemstone frames and one gold glitter frame before popping the eucalyptus flowers on with foam tape.

Since the Avocado panel is fairly dark and the frames and flowers are light, I added gold pearls to coordinate with the gold glitter frame and avocado panel.

For this final card, I used the Mini Minc Foil Applicator with Champagne Deco Foil on one of the Foil It - Modern Eucalyptus cards. Then I used the layering stencils to fill in the flowers on the card.

I used the colours in the same order as the first card - Avocado, Salt Water Taffy, Rose Water and Tropical Punch. I stamped the Scripted Sentiment in Oreo ink in the centre of the foiled circle and trimmed a quarter inch off the right hand side.

I cut a panel of Tropical Punch cardstock and adhered it to a Sugar Cube card base. Then I trimmed a strip of gold glitter cardstock, attaching it to the left edge of the foiled panel and attached it to the card.

Ellen Hutson | Meet the Maker feat. My Favorite Things + Secret Sale!

I'm so excited to be featured on the Ellen Hutson blog today! I'm also taking over their Instagram stories for the day so I'd be honoured to have you all join me there. As part of my takeover, I have a very special secret sale for you so be sure to read 'til the end to find out what it is!

Today, I'm featuring products from My Favorite Things and, in particular, the most adorable set called Koala-ty Time. I started by colouring all of the images with a mix of Copic markers and Sketchmarkers. Sketchmarker is a new-to-me brand of alcohol markers and they're amazing! Those colours are represented in the leaves, hearts and little pinkish-purple t-shirts.

After die cutting the images, I set them aside and prepared the background.  I cut a card base from white linen cardstock. Then used the Slanted Stripes Cover-Up to cut Concord & 9th cardstock in (left to right) Evergreen, Parsley, Oceanside, Aqua Sky and Sprout. You can also find these colours in the Assorted Pack, which I always keep on hand.

After assembling the background, I die cut some Clouds from vellum and position them at the top of the card. I also white heat embossed the sentiment on vellum and cut it using a tag from Blueprints 27, layering it on Dove cardstock. This style of tag could easily be created freehand or by using a quick trimmer and detailed using the Stitching Lines.

My second card uses the May Essentials Composition Challenge sketch (ends May 30th) and features the same five cardstock colours but in different proportions. This time, my background was made using the A2 Piercing Plate 2Essential 4-Bar Rectangles, Essential Circles and Essential Circles for Stitching.

Both the Evergreen rectangle frame and Aqua Sky circle frame were stacked three layers high for dimension. This sentiment was stamped with Nocturne pigment ink and clear heat embossed on vellum, again with a Dove cardstock layer behind it. On both cards, I added enamel hearts from Doodlebug's Love You More Shape Sprinkles. They were the perfect finishing touch!

As promised, here are the details for the special sale on My Favorite Things products at Ellen Hutson

VIDEO | Taylored Expressions | All Occasion Cards feat. *NEW* Ink & Cardstock

Taylored Expressions has just released seven new ink and cardstock colours and you're going to love them! They're fabulous additions to the entire colour collection and they look amazing together and mixed with existing colours.

In this video, I used the Create-in-Quads Hexagon Layering Stencil with Rose Water, Passion Fruit, Macaron and Tropical Punch inks. I enjoy having and highly recommend both the full size ink pads and ink cubes because they're great for different purposes and you can get everything in the I Want It All Ink & Cardstock Bundle

After creating the four quad panels and trimming them down to 4" x 5.25", I stamped out On the Block - Love with Passion Fruit ink, On the Block - Dad with Tropical Punch ink and On the Block - Cool with Rose Water ink.

For the first card, I also used the coordinating shadow dies cut from silver glitter cardstock and adhered them to the back of the block words. I used an additional sentiment from Building Blocks - Love Additions which was already in my Simple Storage for Building Blocks stash. I centred the entire sentiment on a panel of vellum cut with the Stitched Rectangle Stacklets.

For my second card, I used the Rays Pierce & Cut Plate over the stencilled panel and absolutely love the effect. I definitely need to make a habit of this! The sentiment from Oh My Word - Happy Birthday was heat embossed with silver tinsel embossing powder on Tropical Punch cardstock and layered on a vellum shadow. Then the panel was attached to a Rose Water card base.

The scripted 'birthday' was popped up on foam strips but the individual 'happy' letters were glued directly onto the panel. I placed the sentiment too low on the background so I placed more silver drip drops at the top of the panel in order to balance out the space.

This third design is my favourite of the bunch. I just love the way On the Block - Cool looks stamped with Rose Water ink. The shadow layer was cut from Passion Fruit cardstock. The secondary sentiment from Building Blocks - Cool Additions was also taken from my Simple Storage for Building Blocks stash.

I used the Happy Hex Dies, originally from the Happy Hex Monogram Card Kit, cutting them from silver glitter cardstock and glueing them on several of the stencilled hexagons. I attached the panel to a Sugar Cube card base and popped on the sentiment pieces with foam strips.

My fourth and final card features On the Block - Dad stamped with Tropical Punch ink and heat embossed with two layers of sparkle embossing powder for maximum sparkle. The secondary sentiments are from Mini Strips - You're the Best and they were heat embossed with silver tinsel embossing powder on Oreo cardstock.

Taylored Expressions offers various styles of Mini Strips Dies and these were die cut using the latest Mini Strips - Flag Die. I attached the Dad sentiment to an Oreo shadow and popped up all the pieces with foam strips. The stencilled panel was attached to a Macaron card base.

Thanks so much for watching!

Spellbinders | Stitched Alphabet Collection | Stitched L with Glimmer Descriptors

As a follow-up to yesterday's postSpellbinders just released their Stitched Alphabet Collection and it's really amazing with endless possibilities! The collection consists of 26 alphabets plus an ampersand that can be used with embroidery floss or as is, with their base or without. No matter how you use them, the two sentiment sets, Glimmer Descriptors and Descriptors Sentiments, are perfect pairings for any of the Stitched Alphabets.

I customized this card for a dear friend of mine using the Stitched L and wanted to feature all of the Glimmer Descriptors that represented her personality. I lined them up in rows on my hot foiling machine to create a background of words. I used the Color Block Slices to cut Lilac Blossom, Teal Topaz and Beeswax cardstock - available individually or in the Assorted Pack Color Essentials - and heat foiled the Glimmer Descriptors using Polished Brass Hot Foil.

I created a 4" x 5.25" mat and dry embossed it with the Optical Arches Embossing Folder. Then I glued the heat foiled slices and the embossed panel to the card base. I die cut three layers of the Stitched L, as explained in my previous post, stitched it with variegated violet floss and adhered it to the base which was cut from Mirror Gold cardstock. To finish, I added flowers from Mini Blooms and Sprigs and some gold pearls.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Spellbinders | Stitched Alphabet Collection | You Are Delightful

Spellbinders just released their Stitched Alphabet Collection and it's so much fun! The collection consists of 26 alphabets plus an ampersand that can be used with embroidery floss or as is, with their base or without. There's a set of Glimmer Descriptors and Descriptors Sentiments. You can use the letters individually to make monogrammed encouragement cards or spell complete names and words.

To create this 3.25" x 6.25" mini slimline, I cut panels of RainforestTeal Topaz and Cosmic Sky cardstock from the Assorted Pack Color Essentials. I used Polished Brass Hot Foil and the Diagonal Glimmer Stripes Plate on the Rainforest and Cosmic Sky panels, then adhered them with to the panel with white linen strips in between.

To create the custom monogrammed sentiment, I die cut the Stitched D three times from white linen cardstock, glueing two layers together and stitching them with gold thread. I placed foam strips on the back and adhered it to the third layer. The backer was die cut from gold glitter cardstock. I used Polished Brass Hot Foil and the Glimmer Descriptors on Cosmic Sky and Rainforest cardstock, trimming them with the dies in the Mini Sincere Glimmer Sentiments.

Taylored Expressions | More Mother's Day Cards

To all you moms and mamas out there, I hope you're being celebrated and thanked for all you do! If you remember THIS post where I shared a couple of Mother's Day cards using the Flower Patch Background and Flower Patch Layering Stencils, I ended up flipping the WOW back to MOM and removing the foam tape from both On the Block - Mom and Mini Strips - You're the Best so the card would be easy to mail.

As indicated in that original post, the card base was cut from Spearmint cardstock. I stamped the Flower Patch Background with Poppy Seed ink and used Bitty Blender Brushes with Lavender Glaze, Potato Chip and Spearmint ink to fill in the background. I used the Diagonal Stitch Rectangle Stacklets to create additional texture on the background before adhering it to the card base.

On the Block - Mom was ombre stamped using Lavender Glaze, Plum Punch and Eggplant ink cubes. The Mini Strips - You're the Best sentiments were gold heat embossed on Oreo cardstock and die cut using the Mini Strips - Asymmetrical Die.

One of my neighbours loved the original design but said that she calls her mom MAMA so I said I'd make her a custom version. I used the Cap It Off Alpha Dies with gold glitter cardstock for the outside edge. Since this card was getting mailed to Belgium, and the letters were a bit too wide for the card if they were placed side-by-side, I angled them and cut off parts of each letter so they wouldn't overlap at all. This removed all of the bulkiness.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Scrap 'n Stamp | Create Crafty Memories Inspiration Hop + Giveaway!

I'm thrilled to be hopping along with Scrap 'n Stamp Canada to celebrate crafty memories in lieu of National Scrapbooking Day! You should've come from Lindsey's blog but if you just happened upon the hop, head over to the Scrap 'n Stamp blog to begin. There's loads of inspiration across all social media platforms and you can comment for your chance to win a $50 gift certificate to the shop. There's also a weekend sale and you can save 30-50% on select items.

I've made a few layouts in my time as a papercrafter but I don't (really) scrapbook in general so I decided to make a snarky crafty card for a friend. The layout I used goes back to my days of using a lot more patterned paper to make scrapbook-style cards with lots of paper layers.

The base layer was cut from Hero Arts Pebble cardstock and heat foiled it using Speckled Prism Hot Foil and the Spellbinders Diagonal Stripes Hot Foil Plate. This is an amazing must-have product! I added a piece of Coral cardstock for a pop of colour and I love it with the coloured images from several Taylored Expressions sets, including Crafty Stamp & Die Combo, Do Something Creative, Max & Millie and Simple Strips - Snarky.

I used Copic markers to colour all the images but the list is too long so you can check out the list HERE if you're interested in seeing all the colours I used. After colouring the background and stamping the main sentiment, I die cut the cat, mouse, cup, cat-made cards and additional sentiment strip so I could add dimension with glue dots and foam tape.

I trimmed down the coloured panel and tucked a piece of patterned paper from Honey Bee Stamps Back To Basics 6x6 Paper Pad, then used a tape runner to attach all the layers to the card base. I hope you enjoyed my scrappy-style card and I'd love to see your version should you be inspired by it!

Be sure to check out the National Scrapbooking Day Sale HERE for great deals and head to Kia's blog to continue the hop.

Thanks so much for hopping along!
