VIDEO | Taylored Expressions | In the Abstract 2 Cardmaking Kit

How pretty is this new kit from Taylored Expressions?! If you loved the original In the Abstract Cardmaking Kit, you're sure to love the In the Abstract 2 Cardmaking Kit even more because... wait for it... there's a set of Create-in-Quad stencils included in this amazing kit!

I love layering abstract shapes but, let's be honest, sometimes it's hard to come up with a pattern and this kit does all the thinking for you! I'm in love with all of the backgrounds/scenes and the Create-in-Quads - Abstract stencils do all the work. By work, I mean physical labour. LOL

The colour palette I chose for my cards includes Lavender Glaze, Macaron, Mint Julep and Cookie Monster. I used both the inks and coordinating cardstock, as well as Sugar Cube, Black Licorice, Gold Foil and Gold Glitter cardstock.

This first card using the results of the first quadrant resembles a sunset with moon and water. I tried to pick a favourite but it's difficult because there's something special about each scene. I stamped the wheat grass from the Simple Silhouettes stamp set using Versafine Clair Nocturne ink and I love the drama of the black against the pastel background.

I added stars of different sizes from the Gathered Stars Die cut from Gold Glitter cardstock and attached the panel to a Black Licorice card base.

All of the sentiments are from the add-on More Signature Sentiments with coordinating dies. I die cut Gold Foil shadows for each of the sentiments and glued the layers together. Some of the cards have flat sentiments and others are popped up on foam tape for dimension.

I used one of the add-on Foil It - Abstract panels for this second quadrant, which resembles a sunrise over mountains and I adore the beautiful rays! I used Gold Deco Foil with my Mini Minc Foil Applicator to create this effect.

To elevate the brilliance of this panel and put the spotlight on those sun rays, I added Gold Drip Drops in various sizes. This panel was trimmed right down to the stencilled edge and placed on a Cookie Monster card base.

This third quadrant is definitely one of my top favourites because the Boho Bowls are so adorable! They can be used not just as vases but also random shapes on your cards, not just for this kit but any card.

I pulled the Branch Out and Subtle Sprigs Dies, originally sold with the original In the Abstract Cardmaking Kit but now available separately, and die cut them from Gold Foil and Black Licorice cardstock.

What I also love about this card is the subtle white-on-white border on the Sugar Cube card base, as well as the fully-stencilled panel. To finish, I embellished the card with a few Gold Drip Drops

I'm sure you can understand when I say that this next card is also a favourite because who doesn't love rainbows and leaves? Pair them together and you have the most beautiful card!

I love the drama of this curved branch from Simple Silhouettes, especially when layered with the detailed Branch Out leaves cut from Gold Foil cardstock. This fourth and final panel was placed on a Macaron card base.

Coinciding with this kit release is a brand new Gift with Purchase! Through March 2023, with every $100+ purchase, you'll receive the Blooming Botanical Layering Stencils.

Spellbinders | Fancy Fashionista Cards + SALE!

Hello, crafty friends! Can I tell you how much I love these cards? I love them so much that I want to make 100 of the same design and simply switch out the colours and sentiments. Yup, I'm that obsessed! They were so much fun to make and you can make them, too!

Both cards feature the NEW Inside Card Glimmer Sentiments which I finally got my hands on. Woohoo! Every single one of these sentiments are fantastic and will be used until the end of time. On the first card, I heat foiled the sentiment using Speckled Aura Hot Foil on pitch black cardstock.

I used the distress sprayer to mist water on the panel before running it through the Platinum 6 with the Universal Plate System and the Beveled Diamond 3D Embossing Folder (on sale). The dimension is spectacular and so classy!

Featured on both cards, the purse is from Shopping Run (on sale), and the heels and drink glasses are from Shopping Cart Party On (on sale). All of the individual pieces were cut from pitch black, pale rose and mirror gold cardstock and layered together with liquid glue.

On the first card, I heat foiled the sentiment from Inside Card Glimmer Sentiments using Matte Gold Hot Foil on pale rose cardstock. This is one of the best birthday sentiments I've ever seen and will make anyone's day!

I'll never tire of the way the hot foil looks on heavyweight cardstock. It mimics letterpress and looks so professional. Once you heat foil, you may never want to stamp again and I'm not joking! Haha

Do you prefer the black base or the pale rose base? They're both so elegant and I love the contrasting pieces with the mirror gold accents. Both are equally gorgeous and I'm tempted to keep them, which is why I want to make 100 more. ;)

There are so many other fabulous products that are part of the Clearance Sale and I hope you'll check it out by clicking on the image below.

Spellbinders | Valentine and Anniversary Cards + SALE!

I hope you all had a wonderful day showing your love to your family, friends and especially yourselves! I'm still obsessed with the darling Spellbinders Floating Bunny (on sale) and Open House Spring (on sale) and have always wanted to pair them together on a card. These three cards are what resulted when I started. Haha!

This first card features the bunnies holding a tiny envelope from Open House Valentines (on sale) which was die cut from Pink Sand and Pomegranate cardstock, and a heart from Delicious Decorations (on sale) which was die cut from Dahlia cardstock. The sentiment from Mini Everyday Sentiments (on sale) was heat foiled with Matte Silver Hot Foil on black cardstock.

The two embossing folders I used are the February 2023 3D Embossing Folder of the Month - Spring Burst (sold out) with Pomegranate cardstock and the Diagonal Stripes Slimline Embossing Folder (on sale) with fog cardstock.

This next card features the same bunnies but I varied style of paws used, as well as the configuration of the  hearts which were die cut from Delicious Decorations (on sale) with Dahlia cardstock.

This time, I featured the Head in the Clouds Embossing Folder (on sale) with sea glass cardstock and the sentiment from Mini Everyday Sentiments (on sale) was heat foiled with Rose Gold Hot Foil on white cardstock.

This last one a slight change to the paw configuration and the cutest strawberries from Delicious Decorations (on sale). The strawberries were die cut from Pomegranate and Rainforest cardstock with the dipped chocolate cut from dark chocolate cardstock.

I used the Argyle Socks Embossing Folder (on sale) with fog cardstock for the background on this card. I thought it would make it a little more masculine for my son. The sentiment from Mini Everyday Sentiments (on sale) was heat foiled with Espresso Bean Hot Foil on sea glass cardstock.

I hope you enjoyed these everyday love cards and especially the different ways the bunnies are enjoying their happy mail and chocolate-dipped strawberries! Spellbinders | February 2023 Glimmer Hot Foil Kit

This month's Glimmer Hot Foil Kit - Tulip Border is so pretty and perfect for spring! I can't remember the last time I used my Copic markers but I'm glad that this kit allowed me to do some quick colouring. I made two cards using the same colours but in very different ways.

This first card features the Glimmer Hot Foil Kit - Tulip Border in the most traditional sense. I heat foiled the tulips using Matte Gold Hot Foil on Neenah heavyweight cardstock. Then I used Copic markers (all colours are listed below) to quickly colour them.

After cutting both the blue and tulip panel with the third-largest die from the Precision Layering A2 Etched Dies, I heat foiled the sentiment using Matte Gold Hot Foil. Then I used this month's 3D Embossing Folder - Spring Burst to partially emboss the panel.

I find the way the blue panel was partially embossed, it looks a bit like rain clouds but that just adds to the spring showers ideology. I love the added texture which compliments the tulips. To finish, I attached both panels to a green card base.

My second card uses the same colours but with colour blocking. It's true, I will avoid colouring whenever possible so this is my kind of card! I basically cut strips of cardstock and taped them together before heat foiling the tulips with Matte Gold Hot Foil.

Similar to the first card, I used the Precision Layering A2 Etched Dies to cut the white linen and tulip panels. After heat foiling the other sentiment from this set on the white linen panel, I glued them to a blue card base.

I never get tired of heat foiling and I love looking at the shine! Using a different hot foil colour would provide a completely different look to these beautiful tulips and I can't wait to experiment more with this month's beautiful Tulip Border.

Be sure to check out the Hot Foil Plates that are part of the ongoing Clearance Sale. Some of my favourites include the Glimmering Autumn Woods (samples HERE, HERE and HERE) and the Glimmering Build a Banner (samples HERE and HERE). Find these and more HERE or by clicking on the image below.
