[Added: This kit has SOLD OUT but please click HEREto save 10% on Select Hexagon Products through July 3, 2022 (11:59pm CDT)] Taylored Expressions has a new cardmaking kit and it's as sweet as can bee! In this video, I used The Bee's Knees Cardmaking Kit to create three cards. I knew that most samples would be in the traditional black and yellow colours so I wanted to go out-of-the-box with mine.
I used The Bee's Knees Stamp & Stencil Combo to stamp the stinger, stripes and antennae, twice in the blue combo and once in the pink combo. As I mentioned in the video, I wish I had made a second panel in the pink combo, too. The colours I used on all these cards include Rose Water, Fruit Punch, Salt Water Taffy, Tropical Punch and Poppy Seed.
To create this first card, I first used the coordinating dies to cut out all of the blue bees from one of the stencilled panels. I trimmed a 2.75" x 2.75" square and added details using the Diagonal Stitch Square Stacklets.
I positioned the blue bees on top of the square and added one pink bee. When I was satisfied with the layout, I popped them on with foam tape and trimmed off the overhanging bits. I tried different coloured mats and settled on a Rose Water mat.
I positioned the card base with the unattached mat in my mini MISTI stamping tool so I would know where to stamp the two sentiments from the What's the Buzz? mini stamp set in Poppy Seed ink. To finish, I attached the mat and rounded two of the corners using a corner chomper. At the end of the process video, I went back and added a silver glitter shadow behind the pink bee to make it stand out further and ensure that each card had a silver element.
For my second card, I created a Tropical Punch card base and added 3.75" x 5" panel of Fruit Punch cardstock flush to the bottom lefthand corner. I die cut the Honeycomb Cluster from silver glitter cardstock and glued them to opposite corners of the card.
I arranged three blue bees on the card before glueing Rose Water and Salt Water Taffy hexagons into the Honeycomb Cluster. Using the position of the bees, I placed the entire card into my mini MISTI stamping tool and positioned the trail and sentiment from the What's the Buzz? mini stamp set.
To finish, I stamped the trail and sentiment in Oreo ink and popped on the three bees with foam tape.
For my third card, I used the second full panel of blue bees and trimmed it down to 3 7/8" x 5.5". I adhered it to the Salt Water Taffy card base flush to the right edge. Then I trimmed a 1/8" x 5.5" strip of silver glitter cardstock and glued it along the left edge of the stencilled panel.
To create the sentiment from the What's the Buzz? mini stamp set, I white heat embossed it on Tropical Punch cardstock and die cut it using the Mini Strips - Asymmetrical Die. I cut two additional layers from Oreo cardstock and glued them together, offsetting the Oreo layers as a shadow.
I hope you enjoyed these three ideas using The Bee's Knees Cardmaking Kit in non-traditional colours. I encourage you to think outside the box when creating!

Hello, crafty friends! Today, I'm sharing the card my son and I collaborated on for Father's Day. I've had all these amazing Avery Elle stamp sets for some time and was desperate to use them! I'm a huge fan of Elena Roussakis' illustrations, previously for Neat & Tangled, and now for Avery Elle. The critters are so adorable and hard to resist!
One of my favourite sets is the Forest Dance Party because all the animals are playing musical instruments. Since my son plays trumpet and percussion, we included the fox playing a bugle and the bird playing the triangle. As always, we coloured the bird in widgeon colours. ;)
The sweet beaver is from Maple Syrup and the stool, books and coffee are from Feels Like Home. We stamped all the images with Tuxedo Black ink and coloured them with a mix of (mostly) Copic markers and Sketchmarkers. All of those colours and links are in the supply list below.
For the custom name, we die cut the letters from Mini Caps Alpha & #sby Taylored Expressions. As previously mentioned HERE and HERE, Bucky is my husband's nickname and the term of endearment we use for his (originally Minecraft-related) beaver persona.
This style of card could be used on any occasion or as an every day encouragement card. I hope you find inspiration in this project.
I hope you're all having a wonderful weekend! This is the first Father's Day in forever that I haven't been with my dad but I'm happy that he's in Indianapolis with my sister since she hasn't celebrated a Father's Day with him in about 25 years. In honour of Father's Day and to celebrate all men who are fathers, father figures and mentors, I'm sharing these two mini slim cards using a mix of new and old products from Taylored Expressions.
Taylored Expressions has released the next in the Triple Slim Layering Stencil Series and you're going to love it! If you're already a fan of the Create-in-Quads Layering Stencils, then you're sure to fall in love with this new addition. I'm thrilled to be introducing Triple Slim Boho Layering Stencil, the second of the Triple Slim series. These work exactly like the Create-in-Quads but result in three mini slim cards, as opposed to four A2 cards.
I love looking at the finished panels and the different patterns are so cool, even before they're turned into mini slim cards. This first design covers two-thirds of the panel and consists of half circles and slashes.
I created a 3.5" x 6" card base from Lollipop cardstock and attached the stencilled panel with my tape runner. I stamped all five of the sentiments from the Boho Hellos stamp set in Oreo ink and die cut them using the coordinating Boho Hellos Dies.
I love the way the Boho Hellos Dies cut around the sentiments. The fonts are adorable and I can see myself using this set 'til the end of time! I stacked the sentiments two layers high just for a bit of extra dimension and to keep these cards flat for easy mailing because that's always a bonus.
For my second card in this set, I attached the stencilled panel to a Mini Slim Top-Fold in Oreo and added the sentiment to the open space in the centre. I really love the different sized half- and quarter-circles and addition to the half-rainbows in this pattern.
The last card to result from the Triple Slim Boho Layering Stencil is a full card pattern and it coordinates with the Mini Slim Half Dots Cutting Plate. It would cut out the half circles in this beautifully stencilled panel or you can create an overlay, placed in either direction.
The Mini Slim Half Dots Cutting Plate is extremely versatile and classic. You can use the main shape to create custom patterns of colour or you can use the individual pieces freely.
For the first card, I created a recessed pattern which was the opposite of what I had intended due to a glueing accident but I love the way it turned out. I also ended up white heat embossing the sentiment on Oreo cardstock and adding a gold glitter shadow for maximum impact.

To create the sentiment, I cut the Hey Word Dies from premium white cardstock, vellum and gold glitter cardstock. I cut one vellum layer and one premium cardstock layer using the backer die. Then I cut one gold glitter layer and three premium cardstock layers using the thin scripted die. I used liquid glue to secure all six layers in the following order: gold glitter script, premium white script, vellum backer, premium white script, premium white script and premium white backer. This creates the perfect amount of dimension and support between the layers without having to use foam tape.
To add a bit more detail to the card base, I scored two lines on the folding edge of the card. It's rare that I make a card without any stamping but this sentiment and the pretty papers make a great hello/friendship card. I hope you enjoyed all of my inspiration for the Quint-Essentials Collection and NEW Apothecary Inks.
